2012 defense

ok,i said slightly overrated. i shouldn't say overrated, but over-hyped. overrated would imply that he didn't deserve the recognition he got from the media and coaches. over-hyped is what i read on here.

whatever the case i still think we'll be more talented on defense next year, that was the main point.

I wouldn't place two freshmen, although redshirted, so high just yet, even by the time of the Cat-Griz game; I'd consider "Chief" Goodwin, a 6'0" 185 lb Jr CB that has run a 10.6 100 m (40 tackles, 13 pass breakups, 2 Int. - one a pick-6), and a Jacob Coogan in the mix sooner, though Connor Lebsock is indeed intriguing. Coogan, Jr Safety 6'2" 205 lbs, out of Mater Dei hs in San Diego has some pretty decent accolades as well.

wow that is fast.....that would be about a 9.6 100yd.....if this guy has any football savvy to read the quarterback and cover his man at the same time i would agree with you 100%...no freshman is going to compete with that-speed, college experience (level) and ability.

...for Anthony "Chief" Goodwin from Mt. San Antonio JC..."has run a 10.6 in the 100 meters." Was also First Team Defense as a Freshman in JC for All-California Region 1V.
 
I think we need to get rid of the "chief" moniker right now..........wouldnt want to upset the Natives...............:roll:

Strange. The above link provided has Jacob Coogan from Marion Catholic hs (team MVP when as a senior in hs)while http://www.swccd.edu/~hesa/Disciplines/index.asp?1762D670" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has him listed w/ Mater Dei hs, which is what?..according to some, the #2 rated hs athletic program in America > http://www.materdei.org/football/html/history/history.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Be really interesting if Coogan did go through Mater Dei "and" was Team MVP when as a senior).

P.S. - My bad. I found out that Jacob Coogan went through the Mater Dei Catholic (Crusaders) hs of San Diego, that was Marian Catholic hs until name change in 2007. Not the Mater Dei (Monarchs) of Santa Ana.

New to the board, here, the moniker has to stick it's from his Mom.
