Hawai'i ?

Postby Geddes » Wed Feb 15, 2012 11:40 am

So, has anybody actually seen Hawai'i play, or know anything about them? I have just glanced at their schedule, and have not perused their stats much. Looks like they can score and rebound. They also have three guys averaging close to 15 a game, with one averaging close to a double/double. I see they have some good wins against Xavier, New Mexcico State, and Clemson. Yet they got handled by EWU at home (granted that was earlier in the season).

I am excited for this game.

Shitty road team but had a nice win a week or so ago @ Idaho.

Should be a good game. Griz 68-63.

Hawaii is a dangerous team. They lost to # 13 Unlv by 5 in that same tournament that they beat Xavier & Clemson. They are 34th in the Nation in Rebounding led by future 1st team All-Wac Center Vander Joaquim. It all starts with 6'6" Senior Guard & Arizona transfer Zane Johnson who is very talented & their leading scorer.

Hawaii's starting wing 6'7" Junior Hans Brereton transfered from Northern Colorado after his Freshman year after he saw limited action & when Tad Boyle left in 09-10. His last game in the Big Sky was against Montana in the Semi's of the BSC Tournament. He went the JC route and had a bang up year. He received 25 offers or so, including byu, usu & other MWC, & Pac teams, and chose Hawaii. UM is favored by 10, I think it will be much closer than that.

Offensive rebounding is not a Griz strong point and it could finally catch up to them with a bigger and faster overall team like Hawaii. On the other hand, the Griz play a very, very good defense, whether zone, or any other, so this game will go down to the wire, with free throws and fouls being the key.. Going to be a great game and I wish I could watch it...Weber is also in a good one....

I am worried about Hawai'i hurting us on the boards.

Also, over/under 4000 for attendance?

Hope so. Being on Saturday should help. I am in the process of putting together a posse for the game as we speak.
