so we get our ninth dui in five years and fourth in the last year and all you guys want to talk about is how it will be dealt with in comparison to msu? where are priorities and concerns? does anyone even care or is everyone numb to it? we have a chronic drinking and driving problem and it doesn't appear anyone wants to deal with it. if you don't think its chronic then show me one group of 100 people that has had this frequency. maus was also cited for two other offenses, including obstructing a police officer.

I wonder why there was no mention of the other "paraphernalia" that was noticed at the scene?

Maybe we need a character on this site called PoliceRep or MissoulianRep to keep this place fair and balanced? I have never seen what Florio looks like but I cant imagine anyone would want to be up a cops ass 24/7..........so I would lean towards MissoulianRep

Looks like she has some support....

So HumaneSocietyRep?

When I drove down Hillview yesterday there were some serious skid marks that started in the downhill lane across the pavement to the shoulder and off the embankment. When I saw it I was thinking someone was totally out of control to leave such an imprint. Pretty discouraging, to say the least, to find out that this was the cause.

I was really pulling for this kid since he is such a great underdog story. Now I'm left shaking my head in wonderment. Huge mistake.

This kind of behavior is what UM is looking for.

My best guess is he will be rewarded for this incident and it will be chalked up to "kids being kids". O'Day is probably trying to get Maus to autograph his beer can collection.

One other thing, why are parents so quick to rush down and bail their kids out of jail? I would have let mine sit there for a week or so after an incident like this.

Not to defend him at all, but that road has a big bump and if you go 5 mph over the speed limit, not uncommon, you almost catch air just as you have to make a turn. A lot of people get spooked, over-correct and roll at that spot. Steve King, Public Works Director, admitted that the road is unsafe in a Missoulian article in 2005. Sadly, the city likes to put all its money into bike lanes while six people have ended up in my yard at that same exact point over the last several years. (1 fatality, 1 multiple disc herniation, and one traumatic brain injury). Having said that, there is no excuse for a Griz FB player to be driving and drinking and crashing at 3:00 a.m.

You sure talk the good talk...

Slightly random, but I still don't know how I made it through undergrad without getting a DUI. Hopefully Maus will learn from this, sometimes it just takes a wake up call like this.

He didnt say we played you guys on the road, certainly you can read and follow directions better than that !

Weren't you the guy who was so concerned about the use of a fake ID for the Bobcat incident? Looks like you've got some more lecturing on the topic to do....

Where is this "phase" in my avatar bragging about drinking and driving? I love how some of you douchebags have little to know reading comprehension and I challenge you to post where I have ever said it was acceptable.

My stance is that I just dont care if people do it or not and that far more sober people kill people every year than people under the influence.....so I just dont get the knee jerk PC reaction to the whole drinking and driving thing.

Couldn't agree more. How hard is it to operate a vehicle at .08 BAC? Shoot I do that 2-3 times a week.

The frequency of drinking/driving may not change as long as young people tip a few, however, some very bad things can occur as a result.
