My best guess is he will be rewarded for this incident and it will be chalked up to "kids being kids". O'Day is probably trying to get Maus to autograph his beer can collection.
One other thing, why are parents so quick to rush down and bail their kids out of jail? I would have let mine sit there for a week or so after an incident like this.

This from the poster who brags about drinking and driving frequently. Note the phase in his avatar.

Where is this "phase" in my avatar bragging about drinking and driving? I love how some of you douchebags have little to know reading comprehension and I challenge you to post where I have ever said it was acceptable.
My stance is that I just dont care if people do it or not and that far more sober people kill people every year than people under the influence.....so I just dont get the knee jerk PC reaction to the whole drinking and driving thing.

Couldn't agree more. How hard is it to operate a vehicle at .08 BAC? Shoot I do that 2-3 times a week.

Dismissed does play better in the press and on the internet, but being dismissed with the possibility of being reinstated isn't really being dismissed in my book. Not big deal either way to me, i.e. on what it's called.

Weren't you the guy who was so concerned about the use of a fake ID for the Bobcat incident? Looks like you've got some more lecturing on the topic to do....

Yeah, sort of like having a charge reduced doesn't mean that the act was not committed. You condemn Ash, but take pride in getting charges reduced. Hypocrite.

At UM, vice president Jim Foley said Maus has been been suspended indefinitely from the football team, pending resolution of the court proceedings. He said athletic officials also will implement the Student Athlete Code of Conduct, and any related sanctions.

Of course seems kind of wierd that some no-name walk-on gets this treatments when a certain back-up linebacker did the exact same thing coming down the rattle snake and they were more than happy to let the "legal system run its course." Sorry, maybe I am being too cynical. Perhaps the UM admin has grown-up a little bit and should be applauded for taking an appropriate position on this situation.
Just for PR, yes this should result in at least a one game suspension (for the DUI) and perhaps a second or third for lying to the officer. The DUI is a mistake many young people make, the second is clearly a character issue that needs some serious consequences to put this young man back on the right path.
