I think it all comes down to money. The tribe sees all the ND gear with the copyrighted logo and name and they want the action (money) for themself. Once the school changes their name the tribe will glom onto it and try to make a few bucks.

I think UND should sue the Sioux (or is it Sioux the sue?) to force them to change their name. Apparently "Sioux" is considered a insult by some and was given to them by the French. They should revert to the own names of Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota. Just think of all of the stress and anxiety these selfish people have caused this fine institution of higher learning! The shoddy behavior of the tribe living on the reservation is damaging the fine image of a once proud people (UND athletes). Its a travesty I tell ya.

Then they in turn can sue the Dakotas and force them to change to North and South Sioux.

Quite a few years ago, a reporter from the NY Times (I think) interviewed a Native American State Senator (Bill Yellowtail?) Anyhow, the reporter asked him how offended he was by the sportsnames names--Indians, Redskins etc.
He laughed it off and said he would like to move a professional sports team to Hardin, MT and name the team "The Montana Caucasians"

The real loser in all of this is America.

I have to wonder if any of us wants to live in a country that would allow a program like Tulsa to always inject color into subtle everyday things like a mascot. Who the fu*k does Tulsa think they are?

Golden hurricane, seriously? Why gold? Why not opaque?

Uppity pricks are now playing the class warfare card on the rest of the country "Look at us, we are Tulsa and we have a Golden Hurricane when you guys cant afford a silver, bronze or even pewter"

What have we become? Where is the outrage?

Now that I think about it they are saying that hurricanes are better than all the other storms and natural disasters out there? WTF?

I request......no WAIT, I DEMAND that they IMMEDIATELY change their divisive bigoted name ASAP. We need Jesse Jackass and Al "Not Too" Sharpton to lead the charge on this incredible travashamockery in Tulsa town. If St Johns and North Dakota was forced to change their mascot then so should Tulsa, we shouldnt have to live day to day with this kind of cold calculated bigotry and class warfare shoved in our face every time CBS has a CUSA game on TV.

I ask everyone on eGriz to rise up and follow me, let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.

And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation of fans will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all mascots are created equal."

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the crackers that run the NCAA and liberal minions injected into academia all across the country will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with decades of mediocre basketball and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that many generations of young basketball fans will one day live in a nation where their favorite team will not be judged by the color of their mascot but by the athleticism and choreography of their character.

Let freedom ring from the Big House in Michigan.

Let freedom ring from the Swamp in Florida.

Let freedom ring from the left wing, overtaxed, high crime, crap hole that is New York City.

Let freedom ring from each and every year they have a below average basketball and football team at Montana State. (Thats a LOT of freedom ringing)

From Big Sky Country, let freedom ring.

When these shackles of idiocy in academia are finally removed from ALL of college athletics the country and the fans will finally be

Free at last! Free at last!

Thank AG1 Almighty, you will finally be free at last!
