Some of the fans here are plain arrogant.
I agree with the one poster who gave the Grizzlies 33% shot at winning. That is about correct.
How can anyone really believe they have more talent than Wisconsin.
Wisconsin played at North Carolina and almost won
Wisconsin lost by 3 in overtime to Michigan St.
Wisconsin beat Ohio St."
2 out if 3 of those are just almost, and none say Montana next to them. It's Wisconsin vs Montana and not much else matters. Let's just get the game played.
hawaiiangriz wrote:OK - I will be the diehard Griz fan that bites.... In no way have we played a team the caliber of Wisconsin or the other 'upper half' of the Big Ten. The Griz stats do NOT reflect us playing up to that level. OK, we played Long Beach State, etc... but in no way have we played the RPI's of the Michigan States, Ohio States and YES the Wisconsin's.
Do I think we can win? Absolutely. But I just can't buy some of the arguments most Griz fans are posting. We're a damn good team, but you all need to be realistic here... We will undoubtedly need to play our very best game to win this one. I can at least admit that.
I am proud of the Griz this year and I will be just as tipsy or drunk as the next Griz fan tomorrow cheering and pulling for the Griz. But this is a Wisconsin team that truly comes from one of the top three conferences in the tournament this year.
While I won't live in kool-aid land, I will cheer as loud as anyone for the Griz, but I also have to be realistic here - and yes my bracket has Montana beating Wisconsin, but that is my heart talking and not necessarily my head.
Keep it close Griz, play Montana ball, show the nation that we can actually play ball, and who in the hell knows!

Yeah, lots of Kool-Aid drinkers here, for sure. But, I gotta tell ya, I have seen your team play on TV several times, and I am not impressed! They better hit the three with great frequency, or they will be in trouble on Thursday. And, I don't drink the Kool-Aid. I'm just telling you that Montana is very capable of winning this game, PROVIDING they shoot well. They will have to play like they did against Weber State in the final game to win. But, they are capable of doing that.

Huh. That's really interesting that it's BS that Wisconsin recruited Selvig. You should really probably inform the UW staff, because they're under the DISTINCT impression that they recruited Selvig:Owens isn’t the only familiar face to Gard and Co. The Badgers recruited Selvig, the only Montana native on the Grizzlies’ roster.
But yeah, I'm sure you're right and the Wisc staff is wrong. After all, you've got such a great history of being correct on this board!!!![]()

Well, if you haven't heard the pundits saying Montana is more talented, I suggest turning off the Lifetime channel and watching a little ESPN.
As for recruits, I don't care that you got Ms. Alabama or whatever. But I do know this: Wisconsin heavily recruited a kid out of high school named "Selvig". Any ideas where he ended up?? (hint, it ain't wisconsin.....)
Q. Derek, one of the Wisconsin assistants said they recruited you a little bit. Can you tell me how much or how deep that relationship was? Did you ever consider Wisconsin as an option?
DEREK SELVIG: I think I remember getting a call, but nothing too serious. I had calls from Big Ten schools, but nothing serious.

Yes many of you were arrogant. Like I said I would never say Wisconsin is better than Kentucky. Could we beat them yes. More talented no. That is what made me upset. There is no way on earth you had a more talented team. To say that is foolish and it showed today

You're wrong....go away Last Word Larry.

There are plenty of informed observers who do not believe Montana is less-talented.
Who? Where are these experts? Picking a team to pull an upset is not the same as declaring a team has more 'talent'. Logic check 101 time. You guys have a good team and have had a great year but step back for a second and think about what you are really implying. Do you have a better player or two ata given position? Sure you very well may. But we have a first team all-state guy from Illinois (Dukan), Mr. Basketball from Iowa (Uthoff), and the son of the #4 pick in the 92 NBA draft (Jackson), that never see the floor! Those are the guys on the end of our bench, how many Mr. Basketballs do you guys have redshirting?
