As the father of an elite and female High School athlete...I can't imagine her getting beat by a male at birth at the sport she committed so much time to.

If we are to show compassion for the small number of those transitioning, should we also not have compassion for the small number negatively impacted?

This type of thing is very hard...I get it, but it is also very simple.. this requires a Yes vote regardless of playoff games/ revenue lost.
Uhm in the grand scheme of things I would rather have home play off games and let you culture warriors go fight it out in court. Good luck, maybe you all can boycott the games too that will show those NCAA sumbitches.

Of course you would...obviously not a father...
I am far from a culture warrior...just a dad

Not just college....and it only takes 1 to destroy years of hard work and dedication...state champion to runner up....

A no vote means you will doom your daughters to the dismal chore of competing against biological males, possibly forever. What a twisted world we live in, bowing down to a tiny minority of people.. We live in an era where the small board of some corporation or other entity feels it has the right to erase the will of citizens and voters.

I think it’s the invisible hand of the market place that dictates these things. Damn invisible hand commie.lol

I'm confused. I thought the purpose of passing the bill was to change the status quo and prohibit the "tiny minority of people" from competing with the gender they identify with, and also ensure that we can no longer have playoff games.

I respect your view on it as well. I have two daughters who play sports (coincidentally one absolutely worked a boy substitute who played a game on the opposing 8U girls soccer team right before COVID, haha). I agree that it’s a nuanced issue, and I can see both sides have good points. Pretty sure that makes us both unicorns in 2021.

When they are 10 or 12...it is competitive. When they are 16 and up...not so much.

Tough topic.

Is she old enough to vote? And has she ever run up against a transgender athletic competitor? I believe this a a crazy wedge issue that is being ginned up to rile up the right wing religious base. I’m sorry but they should not be playing politics with home play off games. We already know how this is going to turn out, bad for Montana football fans. May sound selfish but it just doesn’t effect me and probably 99% of egriz nation. We haven’t had football for a year and half and all the sudden this is an important state wide issue give me a break. It’s much ado about nothing imo.

HB 112 passed a preliminary vote today in the Montana Legislature, and will face a final vote tomorrow. The implications of this bill are that if it passes neither the Montana Grizzly Football team or the Montana State Bobcats (or any NAIA team) will be allowed to host a home football playoff game again, due to NCAA policy. If you want to avoid that, then you need to do more than just worry and complain, you need to take action TODAY!

This bill only passed the preliminary vote by four votes. If we can get two of the people that voted yes, to switch their vote to no tomorrow, we can avoid all of this. Below is a list of names of legislators from major cities that voted yes, everyone of these people needs to get a message from you asking them to vote no tomorrow on HB 112. Tell them the implications on the Griz and Bobcat playoff opportunities if this bill passes. Tell them this bill is bad for these football programs and bad for the economies of Bozeman and Missoula.

Click here to send your messages: https://leg.mt.gov/web-messaging/

Send your messages to everyone on this, regardless of where you live:

Mark Blasdel – Kalispell
Jason Ellsworth – Hamilton
Steve Fitzpatrick – Great Falls
Chris Friedel – Billings
Terry Gauther – Helena
Douglas Kary – Billings
Theresa Manzella – Hamilton
Tom McGillvray – Billings
Brad Molnar – Laurel
Walt Sales – Manhattan
Cary Smith – Billings
Gordon Vance – Belgrade

I encourage any cat posters reading this to copy and paste this post and post it on bobcat nation as well.

Its time to fight on and the Griz need us now! Go Griz!

The NCAA policy applies only to the NCAA schools, not to NAIA schools.

Oh, for sure. I was just sharing a funny story. Other team had the minimum amount to play, and then the boy’s twin sister got hurt in the first five minutes, so the parents decided the boy could play instead of canceling the game for all the girls. Far cry from HS. Sorry if it came off differently.

The University could and should sue the NCAA if they try to withhold games from Montana or the kittens. The NCAA has zero legal right to do what they are trying to do.

Bingo. The irresponsible sports reporters have been reporting that the cats and Griz would have playoff games wiped out. Well that’s never been 100% settled in the least. There would still have to be a shit ton of discussions, info sharing, etc before that’s final. The media has obviously made impact with their stating this like it’s fact when it’s not. Otherwise we wouldn’t have fear porn posts saying we are losing playoffs for sure over this. Let’s do better.

U of M had one who was a middle of the road male runner.....then Johnny became June and was one of the top female runners in the conference.

A whole 1? Woah. I see June took 60th in the Mountain Region Championship.

Allowing chicas with dickas to play volleyball doesnt affect football, which is the only sport that is actually a sport.

I say let it fail.

I also say legislation should be passed that clarifies football as the only recognized sport in the great state of Montana. If we run into Title IX issues, we can amend the bill and add childbirth to the wording to keep the Biden bucks rolling in from the Feds.

You guys are acting like this is a major epidemic in Montana. Outside of June Eastwood a couple years ago at UM, I have never heard of this ever occurring in Montana prior to or after Eastwood. Now if this was a very common problem, then I understand why they may bring this legislation forward, but to put so much on the line for what is a virtual non-issue in MT is not worth the the risk and IMO a total waste of time.

Just curious. How did June Eastwood do as a Griz runner? Rewrite the record books? All state? Slayed the NCAA tournament? Totally unbeatable? Thwarted by helicopter dads at every turn?
