D2 Dixie State is doing a feasibility study to move to D1, and the WAC looks to be their goal as the WAC is looking to bring back football as an FCS conference.

God I hope this happens. Split the conference, and get back to playing a round-robin format every year.

According to the feasibility study:

The WAC is currently looking to expand its membership, as well as include football as a conference sport. This study recognizes the fact that Dixie State would continue to sponsor football and would need to find a solution for FCS football membership as it contemplates this move.

The WAC, which sponsors 19 sports, has initiated preliminary discussions
with Dixie State University regarding joining the conference. This would
mandate that DSU would move from NCAA Division II membership to NCAA
Division I membership. The WAC currently features six public institutions
(Dixie State would be the seventh) and two private institutions.

It's doubtful many, if any, of the current WAC members are motivated to take on a football program just because Dixie St. wants to join. Which means they would have to add other members for a viable football conference; I believe the NCAA requires 7 for a conference. We have several candidates they could take, but my fear is it doesn't happen, so Dixie St. joins the WAC and petitions the BSC for football only membership. Just what we need; more DII dilution.

More PSUs and UC Davises? Yikes!!

This is just a smokescreen by the WAC to cover for the Big Sky so Big Sky fans don't go apesh*t like on here. But the Big Sky will need more schools when Cal Poly, UCDAVIS and Sac State head toward an FBS WAC and the Griz, Kitties, Spuds and Weber go to an FBS Summit. But I'm just an idiot here among all these profoundly bright Griz fans.

Dixie St wants to be in the Big Sky with SUU and NAU. But the Montanas and Idaho don't want to claim them so the WAC fabricates a story. Ditto for CWU wanting EWU and Metro St wanting UNC and Azusa Pacific wanting the Big Sky for fb.

Montana Presidents are allergic to Texas and the Cali schools aren't.

The WAC and Big Sky and Summit are working together and are not rivals. The Summit has thrown to together mbb challenges against each for the first time.

You talking about teams competing for conference titles in the last several years?

Ok you Griz brainiacs. Why is the WAC talking to Metro State of Denver for a moveup when they don’t even have football? That does nothing for a WAC FCS League.

https://www.cpr.org/news/story/after-35-years-as-top-contenders-in-division-ii-metro-state-considers-division-i

That makes at least Tarleton St, Metro St, Dixie St and CWU that would receive DI invites soon. Tarleton St will backfill into the Southland when Sam Houston St and Lamar leave for a WAC FBS.

I take seriously O’Day’s comment about Montana going FBS or DII but you Griz fans disregard his statements or don’t have the least bit of patience. There is simply no money in FCS especially when the WAC and another league could qualify for a CFP $10 m payout annually by 2025. Any FCS school worth it’s salt with a fan base is planning to leave FCS and move up. This is what I’ve been saying for years but just get ridiculed.

The Big Sky will need teams when UCDavis, Cal Poly, Sac St, Weber, the Montanas and Idaho leave for FBS and the WAC is doing their bidding for them. Only four replacement are needed for a 13 team league. Azusa Pacific needs to remain in DII be rule as they need to be a NCAA school for a number of years after graduating from NAIA but they will be called up later.

The Big Sky will need more schools especially near other cheapo ones, like Metro St near UNC, Dixie St near SUU, and CWU a bus trip away from EWU.

Texas travel is worse because no Montanas go there. Texas is now the California escape from high taxes. Montana is so expensive to fly too because it is a bumfvck no-where, contrary to your own thoughts.

If Montana is "a bumfvck no-where" what is Grand Forks, ND, the air travel hub of North America?

UND is an official trainer of pilots for multiple airlines such as Delta, United, Sun Country which have offer guaranteed jobs now for grads with a B average. The pilot training program is the best outside the military and airlines are having a severe pilot crunch so enrollment kejeps rising. The Aerospace school is skyrocketing in enrollment because student want those jobs. Aerospace is one of the reasons that UND is only 40% North Dakotan, with Minnesota reciprocity the other. Before it was the engineering and business schools that really saw a massive enrollment increase because of the Bakken. The Areospace school is also a world leader in Unmanned Areonautical Vehicles, with a 1000 jobs being formed and several thousand more to come. A whole industry is being birthed and UND and Grand Forks are at the center of it. Liberal arts are still seeing a decline like U in Missoula.

Grand Forks has one of the busiest airports in the country for small planes with all the practice pilots taking off and landing as even air traffic control personnel are trained there with degrees. There are no mountains to worry the student pilot.

Try again.

People keep mentioning this "Grand Forks" place like it actually exists when most people know it's just a fictional town made up for the Twilight series of novels.

Is that why sports teams fly into Fargo and bus up to Grand Forks?

Funny how Griz football teams travel to GF and proceed to get their butts kicked by fictional characters.
