Alright egriz - we've got the latest GFP up. The first 1:50 or so we had Colt Palmer who was a player from 2001 - 2004. He shares so much cool information. How his team would pay attention to an opponent who talks a little too much before the game. How a week of playoff prep looks like. Things that brought players together as a family. His ongoing disdain for all things Bobcats. And much more. We ask Mike if he's the Mack Daddy of James's youth team, we offer up that my dad could write a doctors note for people to get friday afternoon off for work, and on an on. It was a great pod - I think you'll all really like it. Tweet link here - I'm going to grab a few snippets and post them below as well.

Just out of curiosity, how many people are listening per week?

I know of one, but I’m guessing the total is in the low seven digits. I may be in the minority, but I wish it was four hours, or however many beers it would take for them to stop being polite and start getting real. Three friends, picked to record in an house, to find out what happens…The GFP: Missoula.

Side note: I WILL get Mike to select one of my NC hypotheticals someday. I’ve made it my personal quest. It might have to be something like, “Win three straight NCs but you have to eat a delicious ribeye, or the Griz cancel the program”, but it WILL happen.

He’s a tough nut to crack it seems. Luke on the other hand seems to be game for just about any sort of agony if it means the Griz win 3 chippers in a row.

Bear Tycoon with Mint Sports says we’re the #1 podcast in Montana. The metrics are kind of funky to me but it seems like we have about 7000 downloads/listens per week on any given show.

How many downloads makes a successful podcast?
The most successful podcast episode had around 50,000 downloads in only 30 days. An episode with 9,000 downloads earns a place in the top 5% of podcasts, and 3,400 downloads puts you in the top 10%. The average podcast racks up 141 downloads in the first 30 days

My understanding too is there’s a big discrepancy between downloads and listens + people who don’t listen all the way thru as well. It’s all really odd.

I can say - this years GFP is by far the most listened to / downloaded we’ve ever had. It’s more than tripled in activity over the last few years

I’m just kidding around, B-Double. You guys are awesome. I tell everyone I can about the GFP. I mean, I do it to a fault. Like, I’ve convinced (coerced?) a USC fan and a Stanford fan to listen to an episode. I think the USC fan still listens. For anyone who follows FCS FB, it’s a must listen. Thanks for doing it.

Wait, wait, wait, wait. Do those numbers include Mrs. Nugent? Because we know she only listens to the first few minutes to hear James. Of course, so do I but….

Those are the guaranteed few minutes where the odds of hearing curse words are below 10%

Oh for sure! It was funny the other day at a gas station I'm buying a soda and a snack and a guy who I don't know sees me and says, "3 hour pod this week?" Haha pretty awesome, we can tell the pod's getting some great traction.

Brint, this might be one of the greatest marketing things you could ever do. You are a household name in Montana and known to others around the country. Get that cheese!

For real though, the pod is excellent, insightful, funny, and the guests have been spectacular. Definitely the highlight of my workweek. Analytical and billing is no fun without it!
