Griz Basketball 2022-23 Schedule Tracker

Look for Little Sisters of the Poor, some reservation team, or a junior college out of Canada….we seem to play one or two of those every year.

I’m hoping for the Little Sisters. They’re due for a beat down.

Looks like we will be going to Duquesne (located in Pittsburgh) on a TBA date in November. I love that we’re playing an A-10 team, as the A-10 has been the gold standard of mid major conferences on the East coast. However, the Dukes were really bad last year going 6-24 overall and finishing last in the A10. We have played the Dukes before, but it’s been a while. I think it’s been like almost 10 years since the last time we played them. Despite how bad the Dukes were last year, I feel like they’d have a really hard time being worse then that next year, so expect an improved Dukes team, and what could be a tough game against a tough conference, and a tough place to travel to.

We don’t know the date of this game, but we know it’s in November, and my guess is that we’ll make it a 2 game road trip with Xavier on the 11th. So expect this game to be either on the 9th or 13th.

If we go in there and beat them pretty convincingly, at least we’ll show we can beat up on the cellar dwellers of the A-10 just like the big boys of the A-10. Now if it’s a battle or we lose, well then that’ll just reinforce how shitty the Big Sky is nationally.

Couldn’t agree more.

Of course this breaks while I’m on a fishing trip in Alaska with limited cell service. The final schedule has been released! A few observations:

We will open the season on Tuesday, November 8 against Duquesne in Pittsburgh. Not sure how that’s gonna work, cause the 8th is Election Day, and there aren’t supposed to be any games on Election Day. I’m sure they probably know more about this than me though. I thought we would open the season on Monday the 7th at home, play Xavier first, and then Duquesne after, but this works just fine. We also got the dates for Air Force (November 27), and SDSU (December 6).

We knew of 10 of the 13 games, but we added 3 games against 2 NAIA foes in Providence and Northern, as well as a neutral site game in Houston against Prairie View A&M of the SWAC. None of these 3 teams are very good, so expect lopsided results in favor of the Griz.

I wanna know the last time we didn’t play a PAC 12 team in the regular season. I can’t recall a time where this has ever happened. We only have 1 road game west of Missoula this year in Gonzaga, and we do not host any West Coast D1 teams this year. We play 3 games West of the Mississippi, and another 3 in the Rocky Mountain/Midwest.

It’s gonna be a jam packed November as 9 of our 13 non-conference games are in November. Our 4 non-conference games in December will be very tough. NDSU, SDSU, and Gonzaga will all be really tough games. Winning just 1 of these would be big, but winning 2 of these (which is possible), would be massive before the start of conference play, and should we be lucky enough to play in March Madness, could be huge for seeding purposes.

Overall, I really like this schedule. It’s challenging, but not too challenging. I love everything we did this off-season with the guys we brought in, and I think this schedule really compliments them, and brings a good mix of easy and tough games. Really looking forward to the start of the season, and watching this team play. Thanks to everyone who helped along the way. The top has now been updated!

Go Griz!

I’m now going into Football mode full time until we get to November, now that it took 5 months to complete this. I’ll check in periodically. Peace!

This is a really good non-conference schedule that Travis has put together. The game at Gonzaga will be super cool for the team. Hosting South Dakota State is another one I like.

Go Griz!

Especially Oregon State. I hate it when our old coaches ride their Griz success to bigger and better places and then refuse to play us. I guess Tinks is trying to protect his 3-28 record. Play us, you coward!

I think it is BS that we can't play 2 Non D-1 games this year. UNC-WILM went home last year and shirked their commitment and we were short-changed on D-1 games. UNC-WILM should be the team that gets penalized, not the Griz

Duquesne’s projected starting PG may not be available in the opener. I hate seeing anyone miss time with an injury and don’t wish it on anyone, but the fact is it’s an advantage for the Griz.
