Wazzoo Cougars beat Montana Griz 73 to 61. looking at the scoring Rosser had a good game shooting from the field making 5 - 6 field goals. Also went to the free throw line 5 times and didn't make a shot. Overall Griz only went to the free throw line 7 times and made 1. Six missed free throws wouldn't have made up the difference though.

So where would they have made up the difference?

Again looking at the stats, by keeping Wazzoo off the free throw line and shoot a lot better to overcome Wazzoo's free throw shooting. Wazzoo made 17 of 21 free throws. Montana made 26 of 59 field goals for 44.1%. Wazzoo made 23 of 58 field goals for 39.7%. Looking at the shooting percentages, it looks like Wazzoo went hard to the basket and created several fouls resulting in free throws. Griz committed only 19 fouls, which doesn't seem to me an above average number for a typical game. Most of the fouls must have been while in the act of shooting.

rebounding looked real bad even though Wazzoo shot only 39.7%. Wazzoo won the rebounding edge by 36 to 25. Rosser and Chavez were leading rebounders. Chavez got his in 12 minutes of play time. Chavez may need development in certain areas but looks like he could be a good rebounder. Second game he has had at least 5 rebounds so far in limited time of action.

Leading scorers for Montana were:

David Bell 4 - 14 0 - 0 11
Mark Rosser 5 - 6 0 - 5 10 6 rebounds
Ryan Pederson 4 - 6 0 - 0 11
Mike Chavez 3 - 3 0 - 0 7 5 rebounds
Kevin Criswell 4- 13 0 - 0 9
Steve Horne 3 - 10 0 - 0 6

Everybody else scored less than 5 points so not bothering with their stats.

Montana turned the ball over 15 times compared with Wazzoo's 21 times.

Dlouhy never played for anybody interested. They may have activated him, but they still seemed to be keeping his red shirt status available for later.

Overall, Griz lost because they didn't shoot well and often enough, and fouled too often even though I mentioned above that the number of fouls weren't to far above average of a typical game. Plus, they need to improve their rebounding. Griz's front court just is not doing the job yet.

Griz overall record is now 2 - 6 for season. Come on Griz, do not let this game get you down. Go out there and improve. Fight hard, winning will come.

I heard from a Coug fan that Kennedy chased after the coaches at the final buzzer.........upset over the free throw disparity between the home team and our Griz. Hopefully they will start to gel once Big Sky play begins.
