With the great outgoing Sr Class thought it would be fun to put together the best 10 man team possible since 2006.

Starting 5
Center - Brian Qvale (2007-2011)
PF - Kareem Jamar (2010-2013)
PF - Martin Brunig (2014 & 2015)
SG - Mike Oguine (2015 - 2018)
PG- Amad Rorie (2016 - 2018)
6th Man - Will Cherry (2010-2013)
Reserves - Anthony Johnson G (2008-2009), Jordan Gregory G (2011-2014), Sayeed Pridgett PF (2016-), Andrew Strait PF/C (2004-2007)

Coach: Larry Krystkowiak ? No strong feelings about this spot

Projected Seed #7

1. Strait was on our last tourney win team in 2005-06 as a soph so he's not eligible for this team by my way of thinking.
2. I'd take Cherry and Anthony Johnson (2008-10'-both years were spectacular) over Oguine and Rorie personally.

Yeah I think this team could be a sweet 16 team. I think an attainable goal for UM basketball is to be a team that goes to the sweet 16 every 6-7 years. If this is a Sweet 16 team, how do you think next years team stacks up to the ultimate goal of having enough talent to go to sweet 16? If each of the palyers on the ultimate team represent a 5 star UM talent I would say:
Center = 2/5 (We got 3 bigs and they aren't useless)
PF = 4.5/5 (Pridgett might be an all timer if he continues what he did in 2nd half of this year)
SG = 3/5 (Falls is ok but still fundamentally unsound an addicted to trying to make everything flashy)
SG = 3/5 (Manual can really shoot, but pretty middling otherwise)
PG = ? (IDk who will bring the ball up next year)

Great team! But let me say this; If we want to become a “Gonzaga” type program, we need to pay coaches. The state of Montana will not allow this. We don’t have enough people in the state to fund the university system. Granted, Gonzaga is private, but Mark Few makes about 1.4 million a year. He’s been the head guy for 20 years now

And Gonzaga doesn't have to fund a football team (also, think their track team is a club sport). That makes lots more money available. I'm not advocating that UM get rid of football or track - never! Just recognizing that the two schools are in TOTALLY different places.

So... if you're going to take nominations for a 10-player All-Star Griz team since 2006, you'd have to OMIT the first of coach Krystkowiak's two NCAA-appearing teams (04-05). If you include both teams, then I'd nominate three other key Griz players (besides Andrew Strait) on those two squads... as least for consideration: Kevin Criswell, Virgil Matthews and Matt Martin. Most notable is Criswell, who scored 1,663 points during his Griz career (compared to Strait's 1,617). Martin is also a member of the Griz 1000-point club (1,021), and Matthews definitely played a huge role in Montana's two NCAA appearances on coach Krystkowiak's team. The other nominees cited, who also appear on the all-time Griz 1000-point club are: Jamar (1,673), Cherry (1,484), Gregory (1,234), Johnson (1,124), Breunig (1,158) and Qvale (1,046). Not mentioned, but also a prominent member of the Griz 1000-point club, is Jordan Hasquet (1,396) who played from 2005-09.
