Whitney looks to be a very smooth, heady player with lots of moves. He will not see the floor until he learns to play defense in Travis’s system. Even though he scored 43 Pt’s in this game his counter part scored 33. Hard to tell lf they were going against other from the clip. If so he was +10 for the game. Good but not great.
We see many clips of high school recruits scoring in the high 20’s PPG but when they get to D1 it’s a whole different story. Classic example is Timmy Falls, and I do like him a lot, I believe his high school numbers were off the chart but they didn’t translate to D1. But there’s still time.

Sure are making a lot of presumptions, aren't we. Any kid that can score and distribute at his level has plenty of ability and hoops savvy to learn the defensive reps here. He clearly has athletic ability and beyond that defense is anticipation and a lot of hard work. And he's "only" +10 in a very good league....lololol.

We don't even know what defense was being played much less if Whitney was responsible for Clark. And by the way, Clark is a 5 star recruit who is only a sophomore with numerous offers already including UCLA and Arizona plus interest from others including Kentucky. I think Whitney did just fine.

Hoops watcher, not disputing his ability to score or adapt to Travis’s system in due time. I hope his transition to D1 is without to much pain. And it’s probably not fair of me to base observations on a single game and maybe 3 to 4 minutes of film. His height and weight are probably a couple of reasons why we were fortunate to land him. Having said that I know Travis and Chris pretty well and know they are very good judges of talent.

Clint Parks knows his s**t too! And we know Travis does as well. Think we got a steal here. Can't wait to see Brandon (& Robby and the Aussies) mesh with our current group of youngsters. The future definitely looks BRIGHT, I for one am extremely excited.

I feel like our success in recruiting Southern California is going to lead to some friendly trash talk amongst the players. Brandon Whitney has now beaten both Kyle Owens' and Josh Vazquez' old high school teams this season.

Gifted scorer. If he gets the TDC defensive scheme down we’re looking at a Rorie type guy. Mid range assassin.

I would argue that Brandon Whitney might be the most polished scorer coming out of high school that we've ever landed as a recruit. I think he could be the kind of guard who leads the big sky in scoring his final 2 years.

I remember a couple of months ago during the coaches show, Coach Cobb made the comment that as a class these incoming recruits have the most established identity as scorers of any class under Trav so far. I actually think the recruiting class of 2020 is slightly better than the class of 2019.

Brandon was named to Cal-Hi sports division 2 first team.
Also, Robby Beasley was named to the open/division 1 second team.
Would post a link, but unsure how to do it from the phone.
Congrats to both!
