The Scheme

Did anyone watch the HBO documentary, "The Scheme"?

Following last weeks airing of the HBO documentary The Scheme, Yahoo’s Thamel observes that MBB remains largely unchanged. One major conference coach tells him: “It makes me sick to my stomach. … The more time that elapses before anything comes to fruition, the more brazen people are going to become in getting away with the same types of things.” At some point, Thamel continues, schools may receive enough information to take more decisive action. “But that’s relying on the universities to stop daring the NCAA to enforce its rules, as this whole process has become one long game of chicken where schools with elite coaches have happily played along. And, really, they’ve won.”

LSU AD Woodward has since released the following statement: “We are aware of the documentary first aired on March 31, 2020, on HBO. There is no change to Coach Will Wade’s employment status at LSU and we will continue to cooperate with all reviews into this matter.”

Obviously a lot of layers to unpack here, but clearly some schools are cheating and others- maybe not. Smaller budget schools can't get away with it like the big time schools can.
Do schools like Montana State and Montana really even have a chance when it comes to college hoops. Should we just be content ("stay in our lane") trying to win the Big Sky and get a #12-#16 seed?
