Great idea making a thread for scheduling Payton, as I’m one of the posters that follows it very closely.

That link only lists @NDSU and @Arizona for Montana, so not sure about @North Dakota.

If you just click “Montana” in the row column it won’t show because it doesn’t have a reported set schedule date yet.

If you click the “Big Sky” column and then go to the “Montana” column it will show you reported games that don’t have a set date, as well as the games that have a date.

Which makes me wonder if the game at North Dakota will be Thursday, Dec. 17 to save on travel expenses...

That makes a lot of sense but also would make for a tough road week with Arizona on the 22nd. But with school starting early and then shutting down at Thanksgiving should make it a little easier.

That’s exactly what I said earlier this year. Save money by taking the grand tour of North Dakota starting Wednesday, then set sail for Arizona on Sunday after the NDSU game.

Thanks for posting this! Arizona has some young studs so that will a tough one but having two pretty good mid majors like Omaha and South Dakota St at home will be fun!

Geographic proximity will be one of the criteria to determine which six opponents each school plays twice and which four opponents each school plays once.

The previously approved 2020-21 conference schedule was a 20-game double-round robin slate that began with two games in early December and resumed after Christmas. Each institution can determine whether it will replace the four fewer conference games in 2020-21 with non-conference matchups.
Anybody heard what UM's stance is on whether they will schedule BSC teams in the non-conference?

Also, determining the four teams you only play once could be a headache. For example, Sacramento is in 7 different teams' "top four farthest opponents." Do you give preference to the perspective of teams that are the most outliers, like Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, and Sac State? If you have to fly, the distance really doesn't matter. So figure you play anyone that you can bus to twice...everything else is fair game.
One of the definitions of privilege is, thinking “the system works” because it worked FOR YOU.

Those distances don’t seem right. Look at Missoula to Bozeman. And to Sacramento. Are those by air or road?

Driving from my house in the university area to MSU campus is 203 miles. The 163 miles must be as the crow flies if it flies straight.

This is good info. I have been reading a lot of articles that say based on how the contracts are written, in this case Georgia may be able to greatly reduce the payout or terminate or postpone the game based on things out of their control such as COVID and the possibility that fans wouldn’t be allowed to attend the game.

Apparently the new rate for games like this is $15-20k which wouldn’t even cover the trip to Georgia.

Regional games seem to be what people are looking at. UM could have games with WSU (if PAC-12 plays before 1/1), Seattle, University of Portland and someone like Gonzaga, although the Zags are in a much higher financial bracket and probably don’t need to pay as much attention to costs.

I believe it was John Calipari in an interview with Tom Izzo, Mark Few and Andy Katz that he said we need to take care of the mid-major schools and make sure that we take care of them and getting them the pay games they need to support their programs. So all 3 of those schools were in favor of pay games for the bettering of college basketball as a whole.
