Official. Solomon III on board. Reported interest from a lot of upper mid major schools (Nevada, New Mexico) as well as from Power 5 schools such as Florida State. For a late signee, this is a good get for the Griz. Adds some size and depth to the front court.

This marks the third "III" the Griz have in the program. Beasley and Brown both hold the title and we also have a Junior. If you look at the recruitment list there are a few more in the pipeline.

I should say if that if he really is a "III" just going by his twitter timeline.

Good to see that it's now official, even though we've known for some time now and Solomon confirmed it in the fight on podcast. I agree with you 24 but I'll take it a step further. This is a great get for the Griz, and I think this is one of the best recruits Decuire has landed so far.

So I watched one of his highlight tapes from 2020. He looks the part -- d1 type of body for sure. His athleticism is what probably made him a Big Sky type of player instead of Pac 12 or other P5 conferences. Doesn't seem super bouncy.

Lance Hartzlers reporting that Solomon is a walk on. How could a player of this caliber be a walk on?

In his interview won the Fight on Montana podcast, he mentioned his recruiting interest took a steep dip when he moved back to Florida after the pandemic began. Interesting, but still didn’t think he’d be a walk on. If it’s true he’s a walk on, we still have a spot left, and maybe two given the NCAA doesn’t count guys who take a “COVID year” like Blakney against the total scholarship count. That being said, the stats Hartzler is reporting in that article are incorrect for his season Junior year in Arizona.

I laid out the reasons why I thought he was a walk-on on another thread a while ago (and kind of was laughed at). I didn’t want it to look like I was negative on the kid, but the signs were there. I had looked at both Rivals and ESPN rankings and he didn’t show up on either, which would be quite unusual for the offers that were represented to be his.

As a 2021 recruit, he only showed up on 24/7 as the 18th best player in Arizona, despite the fact that he finished his HS career in Florida, which doesn’t give me confidence in those rankings. My guess is that he looked like he had a lot of potential as a Soph and got ranked nationally (which was widely quoted on eGriz).

Lessons learned:

1. Sophomore rankings are only slightly more accurate than 8th grade rankings (except for the obvious 4 and 5-stars). If you look at the ranking that was posted on eGriz from his sophomore year, he was close to Shaquille O’Neal’s son who signed with Texas Southern and another kid who has yet to sign with a school (which leads me to believe his early ranking was not accurate either).

2. Due to NCAA rules, all “offers” are self-reported. Schools cannot comment on unsigned athletes. AAU coaches, players and trainers all have a self-interest in reporting “offers” and there is literally no way to refute what they are saying.

3. Very rarely are incoming freshman P-5 level recruits available in June.

He averaged 5 points as a senior. Let’s hope he’s a late bloomer.

Maybe see Bobby Bonilla at a few games.

The Mets are still paying Bonilla's contract. He's being paid 1,193,248.20 every July 1, ending in 2035!!!! Bobby B will forever have my respect for getting that in his contract. Job well done.
