Hey I was just thinking about this yesterday. I'll put the 2022-2023 Griz Schedule tracker up sometime next week. I'd like to wait until our season is officially over, but I'm leaving for vacation late next week, so I'll put it up on Monday. Thanks for doing this once again GF24!

2018 HS graduate. Then 2 year LDS mission. So in theory both could be right.

Any thoughts on whether the Griz might be interested in Tanner Christensen and/or vice versa?

That thought entered my mind too. Physically, he’s a little bit bigger than Blakney, he’s got the right mold and at times was super productive for the Vandys this season. The thing to remember is that this time last year, Blakney had 20+ offers, but didn’t get a single P6 offer. If Christensen gets one (which is possible with his size and athleticism, the Griz don’t stand much of a chance. He’ll have tons of mid major offers though, he’ll be in popular demand.

If the Griz do try to make a run at him, I like our chances with the familiarity and the Blakney connection. He had 2 pretty good games against us this year and played great most of the season for the Vandys so he’d be a nice pickup. Plus the fact that he’s an LDS kid that has 2 seasons left and is much older than most is an added bonus.

Why would he come here to die on the bench ?

Given the Griz critical need for a big man, why would he "die on the bench?"

Given our history of bigs ? and the scheme we run ?
Akoh was well utilized, until injuries limited him. Hard to 100% blame DeCuire for Blakeney 's injury, and another big who checked out early.

Point being, we need size and are capable of properly utilizing size.

Does TD see us as having a ‘critical need for a big man’? I’m not trying to be a smart ass here, but I really would like to know, from his own lips. One would think if he thought it was that critical he might have taken some steps in the past….oh, FOUR YEARS….to remedy that situation? Instead we have what seems like 10 guards on the roster and a couple skinny undersized guys trying to play the post.

Like I said in another thread, watching the ‘Scat/UNC final was like watching a different level of basketball than the Griz are capable of playing. Men among boys, it seemed.

Edit: and as a final note that perhaps makes my point even better than i could, just look at the list of “transfer targets” in the original post on this thread. Not a guy over 6’5”. For reference (for those who think the ‘Scats have a chance), Texas Tech does not start a single player UNDER 6’6”.

Can’t ignore the way that game was reffed. Postseason allows more physicality. We would’ve gotten our ass kicked

You mean the only game we won between February 10 and March 10? Great, lets hang our hat on the fact that records are thrown out when playing conference rivals. Maybe we could play MSU every game?

Northern Arizona is the early league leader in departures, as they have yet another guy hit the portal.

This time it is Sophomore SF Ajang Aguek (6'8''!) that has submitted his name to the portal. He held an offer from Idaho State out of high school.

The Lee kid that ISU got in the transfer portal is a good player. He played HS in Idaho when I was up there and I know he played and started some at BYU, before Coach Pope recruited bigger and more athletic kids to replace him. He then went to Dixie and didn't play or semi-retired or something of the sort. He will be a really good big for them. The Griz need a big body similar to that if they have any chance going forward.
