Randy stepping down

With what college athletics has become these days not a bad choice.
He has said that it had nothing to do with the changes in college athletics and everything to do with a shift in his own motivation for coaching and wanting to enjoy life in retirement. He and his wife have what they need to be happy in retirement, his kids are grown, and he just didn't have the same excitement for coaching. Let's face it, coaching D1 basketball is a high stress, non-stop proposition. If you are going to do it, you need to do it all the way. I've heard it described as a fire in your belly. I don't think he is leaving town, except to vacation, so I'm sure we will be seeing him around.

He has a couple of handfuls of former players in the professional ranks around the world and has said that he wants to get to some of their games over the next year or so. What ever he does, I wish him happiness.
