The pipeline was not going on any Indian Reservations, to my knowledge. It had been routed off reservations purposely. To go over reservation land, the company would have to negotiate a right of way agreement with the tribe/reservation. The tribes were suing over possible issues on lands off of the reservation. I never researched what the off-reservation land claims were. No spill was going to ruin their lands. Lots of my Natives friends are disappointed with the Biden's decision. Job losses.
I have some knowledge and background of pipelines on reservations, having represented my tribe in a possible extension of a pipeline right of way. Over a decade ago. Fort Peck Reservation.
