Food for thought...

It. Just. Doesn't. Matter.

James Banks made a great statement on Twitter about this:

DL/OL- Journey Grimsrud from Huntley project commits to Griz. 6’3” 245 lbs (probably even bigger now)

it is difficult to ascertain which side of the ball he is better on.....pretty darn good on both sides.....

I would think a 245lb high school kid is going to look like a man among boys. What's impressive is that Journey is plays O-line and D-line. There are two way players who dominate, Connor Lebsock comes to mind as a QB and Safety, but to be in the trenches on offense and defense is a tough, tough job. This kid does well at both.

In all fairness, most Class B and lower (and a lot of Class A players) do play both ways. Especially on the line.

That said, he is a really good recruit for the Griz.

While nearly all of them play both ways, rarely do you get a lineman who can be developed on either side of the ball at the next level. It's usually one or the other. I think his best fit will be as a guard but he definitely has some solid traits to develop on the defensive line.

New Commit:

Coaches went really hard after this kid. He is a really big time pick up.

EWU OL camp MVP

Beat out spuds, ISU and kittens.

Great addition and kept him away from rivals, that is Eastern

I saw today that NDSU has 20 commits already for 2020, 7 of which had FBS offers  If NDSU is the standard by which the rest of FCS is measured, then Jesus we got some work to do if we want to keep up with the joneses!

NDSU also gives their players money. Cost to attend stipends.

I believe the Big Sky Conference doesn't even allow this and in my opinion definitely causes a bit of an inequity.

I do not think this is true. I even think that UND was offering full cost of attendance before it left the conference. UM went on record when this rule was passed that they were not close to offering it, and if they did it would be for all sports.

Your seem to be correct. It is more a budgetary issue than a rule. Sorry I misspoke.

I posed this question to UM Athletics two or three years ago when FCOA was first being discussed. UM acknowledged they were a long way from being able to do it, but that it could be done selectively by sport. Discussion at the time was that football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball would be the most likely recipients If the funding became available. At the time, the indoor practice facility was a much higher priority. I believe FCOA is a huge recruiting advantage and, in my opinion, should be the highest priority.

Wow, this kid looks like the poster child for 'run to daylight'. Not elite speed, but good, and tremendous lateral movement to find and then burst through the hole.

2300 yards rushing and 25 TDs last year. 2nd team all-state...in California.

If the Griz have a shot at him it's because he doesn't quite have lethal speed.

all he can say is no.....we must have some sort of angle in order to even have a whimper of a chance....

But getting him wold be a long shot, especially if he tears up the HS football league.
