Who's going to be 3-8?

You couldn't be talking about the Cat team that's 7-3 in their last 10 BSC games including 2 straight over the grizz, could you? The same Cat team who finished ahead of the grizz last year based on the head-to-head? If you are predicting the final grizz record, then it may be the best post you've ever made.
I’ve already posted about this, but those 5 non-Montana wins came against the worst teams in the Big Sky.

How would you rate the UM conference wins?
I wouldn’t, because I don’t see what that has to do with the Cats going 5-0 against the worst teams in the conference, and 2-3 against the rest.

Okay. For anyone who cares, UM beat Idaho St, PSU, UND and No. Colo. Cats beat the same 4 teams. And UM beat NAU by 2 after their qb was ejected early. And, of course, UM lost to the Cats. Cats lost to NAU by 1.

And the Cats went 5-0 "against the worst teams win the conference", so I guess that includes UM.

So, UM and MSU beat the same 4 conference teams, MSU beat UM, and UM beat NAU which beat MSU by 1--and Cats are supposed to be 3-8 and UM is supposed to be good? Got it.

It would be better for a grizz fan to make this next post, but I just can't help myself. So here it goes.

1122, you just indicated, in perfectly clear language independent of context, that um is amongst the worst teams in the league.

Good night all. I'll pick up my mic and check back in tomorrow.

Edit: PR the rascally old fart did it first. Nice.

Yes, and a number of Griz posters here were saying that UM played a very weak Big Sky & non-conference schedule last year. It was mentioned as a reason why Stitt's 7-4 record was very unimpressive, also brought up with a former QB's lack of quality wins.

I've seen numerous Bobcat posts now about how MSU has won 7 of it's last 10 conference games. For the record, outside of Montana, MSU's conference wins last year were against teams that went 6-26 (.231) in the Big Sky. Not something I would be bragging about, but apparently for Bobcat fans it is something to be very proud of.

From the last post I made on this subject:

The only team with a winning record Choate's teams have ever beaten is us.
The combined record of the other 5 teams he beat in conference since he got his first win is 13-41 (24%).
Those teams were the #10 (PSU '16), #11 (UND '17), #13 (PSU '17), #10 (UNCO '17), and #9 (ISU '17) overall teams in the Big Sky in their respective year.

I wouldn't say we were good the last two years, but nowhere in my post did I imply we were one of the worst teams (which is why I didn't say you're 7-0 against the worst teams), unless you want to argue that any of the above teams were better than UM at any point in the last two seasons.

What were you saying earlier about reading comprehension?

But either way...

No, they went 7-0 against the worst teams in the conference during that time if you want to include us, which I didn't, hence why I said 5-0.

How is this that hard?

Yep, so what is your point?

The dude HAS NEVER thrown a ball in live action NCAA Football game and you all think he is the next Tom Brady.

The unknown of QB is greater at msu than at UM and yet as always the kitten fans over evaluate their team. Doubt me? take at look at the predictions last year and the year before on catbox nation. Some Boners over there thought the cats would be 10-1 with their only loss to WSU. Even after a 31-0 loss some thought they would run the table. Cat fans are notorious for over inflating both wins and loses.

Have you watched him in fall camp?

Do you know who Mitch Mustain is?

Simply put there are NO guarantees that Anderson will even be a serviceable QB.
The kittens are putting one of their best Defensive players at QB, that says they don't have a backup that can beat him out.
As far as fall camp...Its easy to look great when you KNOW what the defense is doing and you are not getting hit. Live bullets will be an eye opener for him.

Might be that I'm wrong. But if he is even an average BSC QB I will be surprised. To put such high accolades on a guy that has never played the position at a higher level than class A in Montana is really expecting a lot.

But acting like he is the second coming of Tom Brady... that IS the kitten way.

Holy shit. I posted that before I read Barbecued-cat’s diatribe 2.0.
Dude, are you my neighbor? Do you live in Butte?

Maybe. Did your neighbor say nothing about the MSU QB position other than a good OL makes a huge difference to a new QB? Did your neighbor call you out for foolishly starting an absurd Cat thread? Did your neighbor tell you there's more than enough griz problems for you to be worried about, including mentioning how the OL is going to be trouble even before the Jackson news broke? If you answered yes to all these questions, then I might be your neighbor.
Dude, I want my chop saw back. It’s been like a year now.
And your dog’s getting door’d the next time he runs out
It’s clear one of you is from Butte. And I think I know that dog.

Maybe Payton. If so, we're about the same as last year: a good D (probably improved), a good OL, and a running QB who can't throw. We are probably looking at another 5-3 year, although I really doubt we go 0-3 in nonconference like last year. We would be looking at 6-5 or 7-4 with marginal QB play similar to last year. Not sure where you get 3-8, but an elaboration would be fun. Doubt you give one. I'll report on the QB situation this weekend.

The real question is tf is going on with with you guys? These have been strange and unusual announcements, and the Dad post from the Jackson thread should give all you guys concern. Has Bob lost the locker room? Is there a mutiny ahead? This is a different era anyway, but in light of the Maryland fallout, Bob's previous style may not work this time around. I've admitted several times he's a good coach, but I always follow with him needing at least a year to get his culture and enough of his guys installed.

Payton has mentioned an easy schedule. Don't fool yourself. I don't think Poly is going to be bad again, and that Prothoroe guy is like a firing squad. ND probably won't be bad again. They were 8-0 the year before. That's a other tough game, and both of those are in the road. Both Davis and Sac will be playing at a playoff caliber level. Those are tough games, as will be SUU on the road. Of course Idaho on the road will be tough. Bob said he picked them #1 in the conference. The MV and the Cats are going to pound you with physicality and those will be tough games. It was an honest question when I asked who you were predicting to go 3-8.

This will likely be a really rough year for my good friends to the West.

Depending how the western Illinois game goes msu will go 6-5 or 5-6. I don’t think the offense can score enough to beat ewu, weber, Idaho, or Montana. South Dakota is going to thump them.
Montana IMO will go 7-4.

For some reason, this post makes me think of the last few seconds Nicky Santoro was on camera in Casino. Beaten multiple times, being buried alive, but still trying.

Payton, you haven't seen one second of the Cats fall camp and you are making all these crazy assumptions. Anderson only played a very limited amount of plays at LB last year. He is not our best defensive player. I seem to remember a few freshman QBs who had never seen live NCAA bullets that did very well. To name just a couple-Travis Lulay and Denarius McGhee. Also, a 17 yo. Cat that came in as a freshman and just beat you guys two years in a row. Anderson was a QB in high school, so this position is not foreign to him. He is a really special talent. Maybe one of the best all around athletes in the Big Sky. If you saw him in camp you would see that. Yes, you will definitely be surprised. He has a good arm and throws with accuracy. Most of all he is a leader and is very smart and poised. Plus, he can run and is fast. He is being coached by a veteran QB coach in Bob Cole who coached a Heisman Trophy QB. If you want to relate him to someone think of Matt Sczur of Villanova that beat the Griz in the playoffs. Nobody is saying he is the second coming of Tom Brady. But, my bet is he will be one of the better QBs in the Big Sky.

ABC, stop ignoring reality and the facts.

All indications from Hauck are that the team, including seniors, have bought into what the new coaches are doing, the players really want to win, and that that gives the team a chance to win despite any gaps in talent or depth. Hauck has consistently said he likes this team. He has said that surprisingly few kids have quit the team. He thought there would be more.

Looking at the numbers, surprisingly few kids have hung it up or transferred. For half of them, it was injury or other things going on in their lives. If you were close to the program, you would know the situation with Jackson, Jensen and Favarosa. There's not unusual or sinister about these announcements.

JLM was quoted recently re-affirming this. I know he is excited.

There is no mutiny ahead. In fact, quote the opposite.

What the PlayerDad said relates to football in general. It's not specific to UM. Yes, some players aren't willing to put in the effort and sacrifice to do what's necessary, or want to protect their heads. That's fine with me. I wouldn't want to put in the time and ruin the college experience either. I think sport, from low levels through college, has evolved into something that sport shouldn't be and was never intended to be.

You are one of the Cat trolls who wants so much for UM not to be good, that you just plain make up stuff. You don't have objectivity.
