So I thought I’d start a thread on the Griz lacrosse team since there should be a bump in interest on here due to Marcus Knight joining the team although the Griz team has been pretty good in their own right almost since their inception. I’ll update the schedule results as the season goes on and hopefully we can get some discussion and a little more familiar with these guys and how good they are.

Schedule has been updated with results. Griz have started out 5-0 and their next game is this Friday under the lights of Wa-Griz vs the scats. Anyone who can should show up.

Results updated but the new polls not out yet. Griz are now 6-1 and they face #12 NDSU and #32 MSU-Denver in Bozeman this weekend. The scats will get the first crack at the bison Fri night before the Griz play them on Sat. The scats then play the Roadrunners on Sat before the Griz see them Sun.

New rankings out has Montana falling from #1 to #3 and the scats jumping from #11 to #4. I’m assuming the pollsters seen they beat us but also took into consideration that we beat #1 St Thomas in Minnesota and the scats lost to em plus we beat Idaho 16-3 and the scats beat them 17-8. This weekend we both got NDSU and MSU-Denver.

Griz win two more this weekend in Bozeman vs #17 NDSU and #32 MSU-Denver. The scats hosted this weekends matches, also taking both their games against the same foes. The scats beat NDSU 14-6 while the Griz beat them 13-6. Both teams also faired similarly well vs MSU-Denver with the scats winning 16-7 while the Griz won 21-12. The Griz and the scats started the week ranked 3rd and 4th nationally. St Tomas was #2 despite the Griz knocking them off earlier this year after they gave the scats their only loss of the season. They had the week off and don’t play again tell early April so the Griz at least, and possibly the scats should pass them in the polls. Rhode Island who became the new #1 after the Griz fell to the scats last week won their only match this weekend and should maintain the #1 nationally ranked status.

Nice little highlight clip. Marcus Knight is #22

This week will be a tuff test for the #3 GrizLax team. They’ll be in southern California all week when the go to San Diego on sun to face #7 UC San Diego. On Tues they’ll be in San Marcos facing off against #9 Cal State San Marcos. Then on Thur they’ll close their Cali road trip in Los Angles against Loyola Marymount.

The #4 scats have a much easier weekend going to Utah to face unranked Southern Utah on Sat and #31 Utah Tech on Sun.

Griz beat #7 UC San Diego on the road 11-9 in the first stop of the Cali road trip this week. This is a revenge game of sorts for the Griz after losing to UCSD last year 7-8 after letting UCSD close with a 3-0 run to win. Next up is #9 San Marcos on Tues at San Marcos. No update yet on the scats game against Southern Utah yesterday and today they will play Utah Tech.

Griz get smoked by #9 San Marcos on their 2nd stop in Cali 5-15 in a torrential downpour. Their 3rd stop in LA vs unranked Loyola Marymount should be a good rebound game. Neither of the scats games over the weekend in Utah have been updated yet.

I can attest to the downpour. Seconded. Didn't attend the game, but spent my time driving in it yesterday. Nightmare.

I know they delayed it for a little bit. I’m a little amazed they played anyway. Probably asked both squads if they still wanted to play and I’m sure both agreed. The Griz might be 2nd guessing that decision this morning😁.

San Marcos/Carlsbad/Escondido got about 2 inches of rain yesterday. Got a bit less than that just over the hill. Everything was cancelled yesterday afternoon high school wise. You needed a kayak to get around on the 15 at certain moments. Apparently San Diego has turned into Seattle or Bangkok with the rain this spring. Unreal. Close to five inches more than average in most places.

GrizLax rebounds after a tuff loss with a win at unranked Loyola Marymount 15-7, finishing a tuff Cali road trip 2-1. The latest poll which came out yesterday still has the 10-2 Griz ranked 3rd behind #1 Rhode Island and #2 St Thomas. The scats still sit at #4. I was wrong in their Utah games being played last weekend. They are scheduled for this weekend where they face an unranked Southern Utah and #33 Utah Tech. Then in two weeks on Apr 7th they return home to play currently ranked #8 Utah St, who travel to Missoula the following day to face the Griz at Wa-Griz. The Griz will first play the previous weekend, Mar 31st/Apr 1st, their next scheduled games, when they travel to Northwest Nazarene in Nampa, Id to play currently ranked #20 UC Davis and #25 Northwest Nazarene. Those rankings could change though since a new poll will come out next wed before the games.

Update for the GrizLax team. They’ve gone 5-1 the last couple weeks knocking off #11 Utah St , #7 UC San Diego, #20 UC Davis, and #25 Northwest Nazarene. Their one blemish was a tuff loss in what was quite literally a monsoon to now #2 San Marcos. That means the Griz, who now sit at #6 have only lost to the #2 and #3 teams while knocking off a #1 along with seven other victories over ranked opponents. This weekend is the last two games on their schedule before the playoffs start on May 8th. Both games this weekend are vs currently ranked teams to add to their impressive resume come seeding time where the top 16 teams in Division 2 will be seeded for the National tournament in Round Rock Tx. The single elimination bracket will cover four days worth of matches over a six day time frame simultaneously with the division 1 tournament at the same location. The scats who currently sit at 3rd have four more games remaining, three of which are against currently ranked opponents.

The D2 national tourney bracket is set and it starts Monday. GrizLax comes in as the #4 seed while the scats come in at #6 after losing their regular season finale to conference foes Air Force. Coincidentally they are Montana's first round opponent. Meanwhile the scats get San Diego, a team Montana beat 11-9 in San Diego earlier in the year. Not sure if this will be streamed but the game starts at 9:45 am. Here’s the first round match ups that will all be played tomorrow.

No. 15 Minn.-Duluth (5-7) v. No. 2 Cal State San Marcos (14-1)
