Good story about Dave. Here’s another pretty neat tribute -- from an unexpected source:

Don’t be put off by the headline (I also posted this on the high school “signings” thread). You need to page down to his unrelated sub-text about Dave. He picked my best memory of Dave at MT -- the final game-winning drive against Marshall in 1995. My wife and I were at that game, and you could almost feel Dave “will” the team down the field.
I seem to remember a fourth-and-long on that drive, plus other heroics. What I also remember is that the final difference was a safety that we overly-loud MONTANA fans took credit for because our noise flustered the quarterback. (That quarterback, by the way, was Freshman Chad Pennington.)

Hope you younger folk don’t mind us geezer-fans posting a little nostalgia, but Dave was SPECIAL.

Geezer? It was only 14 years ago.

"That's why someone like Armanti Edwards can be told by Clemson he isn't big enough to play quarterback. Funny how now Edwards enters his senior year as one of the best known quarterbacks in the country, playing for Appalachian State.

All Edwards has done in his first three years is win back-to-back national championships, engineer an upset over mighty Michigan in the "Big House" and win the Payton Award. How many people can even name the starting quarterback at Clemson?"

Coulson, are you serious? 10 times more people know who the starting QB of Clemson is.

Cool story, bro.

I put this in the post on Dickenson's career ending but thought it might be not be seen on that post because people aren't reading "old news" Just thought it is worth seeing.

You may need to play it once so it can buffer and then replay so it doesn't stall when watching.

Great tribute to Dave!

These were merged for the fact that we don't need 2 or 3 separate threads for the same subject.

Well, 14 years ago, I didn't quite qualify for geezer-hood, but I figure I do now. Didn't stop me from being a rabid fan -- holler for the Griz, yell (sometimes curse) at the refs, etc, etc. -- and it doesn't stop me now.

BTW, Dave's retirement press conference is worth viewing. That video is NOT the same as the game highlights. (The thread merge was totally appropriate -- and I noticed another one-off Dickenson post -- but I can no longer find the press conference. Lost in the merge, or on some off-topic thread?)

Anyway, Dave was articulate, straight-shooting, and spoke with some light humor. A CLASSY GUY all the way!

Coulson makes a good case as to why the "star" ranking system is meaningless ... ie Colt & Kroy, etc. which most fans know. Chattanooga came off another disastrous season after having ... once again ... one of the "best" recruiting years in the FCS.

His reflections on DD are also a good read. Thanks for the link & heres to you Coulson ... "clink"!
