There's a little game going on at the Championship Subdivision Website, called "The FCS Elimination Game." http://www.championshipsubdivision.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16134
So far, the game has eliminated teams like Villanova, Richmond, and James Madison. The game, so far, includes the following BSC teams and what others in FCS country think of them. Unlisted BSC teams have been eliminated in this game.
Montana 69
Sacramento State 50
Eastern Washington 31
Northern Arizona 31
Montana State 13
Portland State 10
Two things surprise me: SacSt and MSU. SacSt possibly finishing #2? Well, Greg Rachac's analysis of returning BSC players, shows a possible finish at #4. See: http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43907 Greg writes for the Billings Gazette. The point is, SacSt could well be the dark horse of the BSC this year. Yes, we'll see, but it'd be well for Griz fans to be up for the SacSt game. (I'm not a Hornet fan, btw, altho I'd like to see more challenge from the bottom tier BSC teams. This could be the year for the Hornets, and it's not just Rachac.) SacSt ahead of EWU & NAU?
MSU is another story. Rachac's rankings have MSU finishing second (a close second at that) to UM, but FCS country sees it differently, with MSU finishing #5. MSU behind EWU & NAU? MSU finished ahead of NAU last year & so did SacSt. With Weber out, I see the struggle between MSU & EWU, altho the Eagles may prefer to see the struggle between them & the Griz.
I don't know how long this game will go on. It started 6/10. But, so far, FCS country rates the Griz as favorites for the NC by a large margin.
