Ask the A.D. - Answers

When will the 2012 UM football schedule be released?

Answer: Currently we are awaiting final confirmation from a couple of schools before we release the schedule - but we expect it to be soon. We can assure you of all but two of the games. Thus far, the Griz will travel to Appalachian State on Sept. 1, Eastern Washington on Sept. 29, Northern Colorado on Oct. 6, North Dakota on Oct. 20 and Weber State on Nov. 3. The home games are: Northern Arizona, Sept. 22 (Homecoming); Southern Utah, Oct. 13, Idaho State, Oct. 27 and Montana State, Nov. 17. The dates for the two remaining games will be either Sept. 8, Sept. 15 and Nov. 10..

What "regular" Big Sky opponents will be missing on the 2012 schedule?

Answer: Schools that the Griz annually play, but will not in 2012 due to the latest conference expansion are: Portland State and Sacramento State - although both will re-appear on the Griz schedule in 2013. Also, two schools who will always appear on the Montana schedule as "rivals" are Eastern Washington and Montana State.

How about filling one of those September games with a night game (under the new lights) vs. a top 25 FCS school. PLEASE NO MORE D-II schools.

I'll say it again how about
#16 Harvard
# 18 Illinois State
#20 Jackson State
#24 South Dakota
or
Grambling, with their great band.

Heck it's been a few years since we beat up on Idaho how about a game with them. Always fun and a guaranteed win.

This earlier version of the schedule has USD on it already. I guess that one fell through? If so ,that's a shame given USD's recent hiring of Joe Glenn.

9/1 at Appalachian State TBD
9/8 OPEN
9/15 OPEN
9/22 Northern Arizona * TBD
9/29 at Eastern Washington * TBD
10/6 at Northern Colorado * TBD
10/13 Southern Utah * TBD
10/20 at North Dakota * TBD
10/27 Idaho State * TBD
11/3 at Weber State * TBD
11/10 South Dakota TBD
11/17 Montana State * TBD

Idaho would be great, but they will never set foot in Wa-Griz as long as they're still in the WAC. I'm guessing O'Day is shooting for 6 home games (as he should).

The way this is shaping up, we'll have a bye week either really early or just before Griz-Cat again (assuming that the USD game listed here did in fact fall through).

Should get an FBS team to play. Just not that good of one, maybe a team like Cinci, Buffalo, UNLV, etc.

What are you talking about? The University of Cincinnati is a good FBS team. They tied for the top of the Big East this year.

Blech. UNLV? Sure...the others? Not so much....much rather see idaho, Wyoming, BSU, WSU, CSU, Colorado, Utah, Utah State, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State, Fresno State, New Mexico, or New Mexico State. Hell, have the Griz come on down to Arizona State!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: We'll be installing a new system here and would be more than likely very beatable...third year of Pflu-ball would do pretty well here, maybe Owsweiler can get homesick.

I say another FCS team and a Western Oregon type team in Sept and a bye before Griz/cat.
