What a bunch of horseshit and hooey. We are the Griz. Sure, locally we may be the U, and maybe we attend or graduated from the U, but that is what is called a colloquialism. Go anywhere else and tell someone you root for the U, and they will think you are a Miami fan. Bullshit! MOST people do not refer to the University of Miami when they say the "U". Not a single person I have EVER met says it. I grew up in Missoula but have lived many different places and literally have never heard anyone say it so don't say the "average American" is refering to the University of Miami when they say the "U". I went to "the U" and have even frequented "the Y" a time or two........eeerrrr, nevermind....carry on!!!

im a student at UM right now and i never heard somebody call it The U. we always just called it M which i thinks kinda class cuz we got that giant M on the hill behind campus. plus it reminds me of one of my heros marshall mathers :lol: :lol:
