Fullerton: Idaho, NMSU out there as possible 14th team

Mr. Titleists Idaho thread of July 1 stated the obvious. A column in the Idaho State Journal by Chuck Malloy of the Ridenbaugh Press had some good quotes. "University of Idaho officials, from the president on down, have made it clear that the Vandal football program is about making money." "The financial consequences make it(back to the BSC for football) not very attractive," said Idahos new president Chuck Staben. This year, they make $975,000 to be the sacrificial lamb at Florida. Evidently, Idaho is waiting to see what happens with the big 5 conferences, and those conferences below that. Per Malloy, "If the Sun Belt is demoted to the same level as the Big Sky, and Idaho has no where to go, then a return to the Big Sky could happen quickly. If nothing happens within a few years, and Idaho remains stuck in a conference that's two or three time zones from Moscow, then it might be time to evaluate whether Vandal football is even worth having."

Far more credible than anything from Fullerton, who personally has made the BSC unattractive to Idaho.

Then Idaho should feel right at home, seeing as they are one of the most irrelelvant and unattractive schools in the FBS

So, ID is only in the FBS for the money, not for pride, prestige (regardless of conference level), value of the name of University of Idaho football? IOW, ID has sold out. Just a bunch of shills. Who'd want to play, there?
 
Idaho has to be in it for the money, football wise. How do you think they pay for their other sports programs? They're no different than any other football program outside of the Power 5.

Sounds like Sports Network will be the next media source to report, based on nothing but Foolerton's hot gas, that Idaho to the Big Sky is a possibility. Foolerton's been the lone source in several of these articles. He never gets tired of suggesting the Big Sky and the Vandals may re-unite, even though Idaho has been gone for 19 years and insists at least a couple times a year that Vandal football won't return to FCS.

Silver you don't like flying your teams into Fargo then driving 70 miles on a bus there and back?
 
The AD at Fullerton has a campaign underway to bring back college football to Orange County. He was the AD that cleaned up the Hawaii mess after June Jones split. Fullerton would open a direct pipeline into Southern California for recruiting some of the football talent necessary to stay near the top of the BSC.

In a perfect Big Sky world, if you could add Idaho for the natural rivalries w/ EWU MSU ISU & UM along with picking up NMSU for a presence in the Southwest would only help to extend the overall market for the conference members.

It all sounds good to me!

Pretty sure I have already seen this movie, but back then it was called Cal State Northridge.
