Heard that Tinks is trying to arrange a game with the Bruins next season. Be great for the program and probably worth a trip to LA for this fan. :thumb:

That's interesting, as Will C. Holden's blog on the Chronicle indicated that MSU will be playing UCLA as well.

And yet Howland won't schedule his old team. Guess he doesn't want NAU continuing their win streak at Pauley

What's U of M's record vs. UCLA? (not meaning to be snarky....I really don't know...) The U of Montana beat Stanford and Oregon recently and damned near beat UW last year.

NAU beat ASU and UCLA over the course of the last few years. These forementioned Pac-10 teams conveniently have the time to schedule Delaware State, Florida A&M, Arkansas Pine Bluff, Texas State and Western Illinois at home - no diss at all to any of these programs as I hope that they stick it to as many power conference teams as they can- but it's just too much trouble to schedule a regional team at home.

I call bs and, yes, UCLA will not suffer the indignation of losing to a peon like NAU again. Therefore, they won't schedule the Jacks at home again. If I'm nuts, ask someone in the Griz athletic department if Oregon and U Washington are returning their calls for a return game after last year.

The Portland Pilots beats UCLA by thirty last season...at Pauley.

Actually at Staples Center, but close enough.

The Staff is having a tough time scheduling some good, quality games right now. The past success of the Griz, as well as the potential of upcoming years, proves to be detrimental in securing home and homes with "bigger" schools. These schools dont like to lose at home, nor do they like to travel to a difficult place to play (not to mention get to), so if the Griz want some marquee games, they will surely be at the mercy of the other schools... similar to what Gonzaga has been going through the last 5-6 yrs. Might end up having to get into some pre-conference tournaments to get some good competition..

My bad. All I know is that I watched the game, and if you're a UCLA fan, it was ugly. Portland was a good team, ranked in the Top 25 at one point, but man, that had to hurt.

In all fairness, yes the Zags have been at the mercy of big schools, but the trend is starting to change. They secured a home and home with Wake Forrest and will have a home and home starting with Michigan State next year. U of W, who cancelled the annual series, wanted to start up again, but only in Seattle. The Zags said no, because they don't have to travel to big schools anymore purely because they demand it. If U of W doesn't want to do a home and home, then we'll just play Michigan State again. No loss to us. I think the best thing for the Griz is to get involved in some of those pre-season NIT and Maui Invites that the Zags have been involved in over the years. It really helps show your team how they match up against an ACC, Big East, Pac-10, and maybe a Big-10 school before you head into conference play.

Confirmed Dec 5th at UCLA, also games at Nevada and Utah, and Home and Home with Idaho.

Im told the Zags are trying to convince the Griz to come to Spokane as well. Game would be in the Spokane Arena and set up as a "play-in" game for the CBE Classic in Kansas City (Duke, Marquette, Kansas State, and Gonzaga). Would make for a great (but brutal) non-conference lineup for the Griz if they added this game.. Doubt Tinks will do it though, too tough of a non-conference schedule.

Not sure if the game will be played in Pauley because of the remodel...Montana State is also scheduled for late December...no students will there...and few others probably....

What is funny, about UM and MSU both playing UCLA next year is the Howland (former n. Ariz coach) complained a couple years ago about Pac-10 schools playing to many "Big Sky type" schools and hurting the conferences RPI over all rating.
