What is Vaughn Autry up to...

... not a lot of good.

Looks like Tinkle may have dodged a bullet here!

Uggh. With him here or not, that's never good news. I hope he can straighten himself out soon. Wasn't he playing on a juco team or something? I can imagine not anymore. This could destroy any shot he has at playing college ball again.

I must have missed an article posted by "Mslacat" from a ways back, since I didn't know that Vaughn Autry had made a commitment to Utah State beforehand and then had the offer rescinded by Utah State; hence Autry ending up at UofM in the first place < http://parsingthewac.blogspot.com/search/label/Vaughn%20Autry" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sorry to hear Vaughn was part of this. Good to see Wayne Tinkle has a good sense though. I hope that rubs off with the football coaches sometime. Wayne has always been a good judge of character, and gives most the benefit of the doubt. I believe he did so with Vaughn too. Come on Vaughn, get it together. :thumb:

Autry originally was offered and committed to Utah State then about a month before signing day he called Utah State to see what was up since they had talked to him in a month and was told the were going to sign a JC instead (their are two versions of this story). Autry was in a panic, but his AAU coach and dad heard Tinkle was looking for a guard, a trip was quickly scheduled to Missoula and Autry and his dad fell in love with Missoula and Tinkle. Autry felt he could come in and make an instant impact on the griz program since in his mind it was way below his talent level. Dreams of Stucky. A few months later Autry's father died suddenly midway through his senior season. I was told that Tinkle wanted him to redshirt last year to give him a year to adjust both athletically and emotionally but he refused to accept the redshirt. He did not play much last year and I was told in early February he was not happy & don't be surprised if he transfers. He was going to be playing for Citrus JC in California this year (historically one of the better schools in California) and many thought he had a chance to the California player of the year.

Thanks for the backstory Mslacat, really makes you feel for the guy

That is all too bad to hear. Hopefully this will be a wake up call to turn his life around.
