Vigen addresses Zac Crews' 'horrible mistake,' walk-on opportunity

EverettGriz said:
Oh, I’ve made mistakes. I once wore mismatched socks to a job interview, for God’s sake.

Know what I’ve never done, though? Called anyone the N word. Because that’s not a mistake. That’s racism, and racism is NEVER a mistake.

Now, like CDA, I’ve made my final post on this thread.

....another Girly man statement! good bye!

So NOT saying the N word is girly-man?
Noted.

I think we have all heard the saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."
Evidently, people aren't made of the same tuff stuff anymore. Generations of snowflakes have congregated on eGriz. Bunch of Humpty Dumpty types.

From Wiki:
Where did the saying sticks and stones may break my bones come from?
Earliest appearances

It is reported to have appeared in The Christian Recorder of March 1862, a publication of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, where it is presented as an "old adage" in this form: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never break me. But names will never harm me.

Man all the racist apologists in full force on egriz... Basically saying "oh an African church came up with the saying, so it's fine to be a racist bigot, it doesn't hurt them!"

Man stfu. I dare you to go to a ghetto and convince them how it's okay for kids to say n*****. Lmk how it goes. I'm here for the updates.

I dare the white guys on egriz to just go into the ghetto. Or to bars in Browning or Poplar at night.

If I walked into a Browing or Poplar bar at night as a white dude born and raised in Montana would the regulars treat me poorly? Why?

This concept never crossed my mind as my experience with every single small town Montana Bar has been quite the opposite.

Test it out some Saturday night, and let us know what you thought. Those bars can get rowdy and have a lot of drunks. How many reservation towns have you hung out in, in the last 25 years, especially the more remote ones with a higher percentage of NA population. Lots of meth and related problems. Lots of crime. Few police.

Ugh. I have always bragged about small-town Montana bars to my not-from-Montana friends. Honestly, I had no idea reservation bars might be so different.

Not bashing the res here, just a comment. We pulled into a c-store in Browning one fine afternoon. Before we got out a local pulled in next to us, got out, and flipped me double birds through the window. She had a few choice words to boot. My buddy in the back was laughing his head off because I was so shocked & told me it happens to him all the time. A few minutes later she returned from the store with a cold pack in one hand, and a single bird for me. My crime? Born white. The only time I've ever felt racial discrimination first hand, no pun intended. I wasn't even wearing my Cat hat! Wish it were different.

Had a great afternoon/night at Ick's Place years ago....yes, it was a record-scratch moment when we walked in, but one guy who owned the Cut Bank (I think?) bowling alley was in there and bought us a beer, great time after that. Still love the reactions we get when we tell people we drank at Ick's.

'...record-scratch moment...'
Great command of the language. :thumb: You are dating yourself, though. Only old people have records, or even know whatthehell they are.

'Still love the reactions we get when we tell people we drank at Ick's.'
Proof positive that hoops was 100% spot-on. Its a Montana fact of life, something we learned at an early age. Snowflakes/Out-of-staters just can't handle it, let alone understand it.

What's funny about this is I grew up in North Central Montana...and had no idea this was the case. I guarantee I would have ventured into small-town Montana bars wherever they were for a beer. Still surprised by this.

I am going to test this stuff sometime. Me and my wife are going to go to a bar in Browning. I'll buy a round...tell them I am vet, and we'll see where it goes.

My now deceased wife and I spent a few 3-4 hours at a bar one night in Browning. I cannot remember the name as it was 20 years ago. As the night wore on, she felt a bit uncomfortable so we left, but we had no problems. She was a busty good looking blonde so that may have contributed to the staring. lol We also spent another night at the casino with no issues.

When I worked for the UM in 2001, I spent 4-5 days a month in East Glacier, and had absolutely no issues. I actually found everyone to be quite nice. I'm very surprised by this, but then too, I stand well over 6 foot myself with quite a bit of beef on me. There was a great steakhouse up there. Maybe called the Horseshoe or something like that. Was north of town.

Correct, but Vigen and the administration addressed the situation once Crews asked to join the team - and the team addressed it as well. Just not for public consumption. Did Vigen handle it better than Bobby? Absolutely, but his circumstances were different too. Put differently so the trolls can follow, had Crews committed to MSU first, the same thing would have happened - he'd have ended up at UM and Bobby would look good. The only difference is that the trolls over here would still be bashing Vigen and all things MSU, thinking only of themselves and not what matters - Crews gets a chance to atone, attend college, and play the game he loves.

Then, it's kind of dubious to say Sixx "absolutely handled it better."
Also, I heard Sixx orders tilapia at steakhouses. Not sure if true.
Yeah well Bobby eats gas station sushi!
