By proxy, here is the list Kyle updated in the Missoulian. 29 folks and while I haven't cross-checked everything, @ first blush - looks like the Payton effort.

I'm standing with Kyle.

Kyle released this article last night and then shortly thereafter this one was announced via twitter so it is not included in his list:
S/LS - Caleb Mitchell 6'1" 190 (Mount Si HS) Snoqualmie, WA (2-Star) (Walk-on?)

can someone please kill the stupid idea of having to use the go@#*mn fax machines? end of rant

Not a lawyer, but doesn't this have something to do with the legality of providing a signature, or something along those lines?

Signing Day letters are mostly for show, and legally bound versions are done later in person with coaches on hand.

So it's another example of how out of step the NC2A is. Figures.

How is a fax any more defensible or reliable than a PDF file? Seems weird to me.

Another poster said that the recruits actually sign a document with the coach present? If that's the case, this whole "fax your signed LOI in" is purely ceremonial like modern British royalty or those silly outfits that the Swiss guard wear.

I suppose the faxed LOI adds some excitement to what would otherwise be a pretty straightforward and boring process. Where do I even find a fax machine? What if the internet is down? Should I include a cover sheet?

Where the f*ck is Dylan's LOI, has anyone seen it?!?!?

Here is an article in the NYT about Blinn JC, where James Homan is transferring from. Obviously it is very Cam Newton-centric, but may be of interest. I've actually been to Brenham Texas, let's just say there is not a lot going on there.

Good point. I think it's more about the fax being point a to point b. PDFs require a few more steps to get the signature in there. But I'm usually wrong. Except when I'm not.

Rachac doesn't like signing day.

There's bound to be a couple surprise pickups and a couple surprise absences...it's the norm.

I'm hearing a few of these names aren't actual recruits with offers. May be a case of a few guys announcing to Montana in hopes to get an offer.

That would suck... I guess we will know in 24 hours.

I'm hearing something slightly different: that some of these guys who we would "assume" are full-rides, aren't necessarily. Some (no specific names were mentioned) may have been willing to accept 1/2 or 1/3 of a scholly with the intent of working hard and getting a full scholly when we get the 4 back next year....that speaks to Stitt and his teams' ability to sell recruits on the value of a UM education and playing for a winner in front of a packed house. :thumb: :thumb:

That's certain. I can confirm that. I think you might be surprised at some of the guys who are getting partials. But a large reason why they accept partials is because Montana's coaches are serious about going after guys with good academic standing. It allows them to offer partial athletic aid and cover a considerable amount of the gap with academic money -- if the kid qualifies for it. It also kind of tells you where the kid's commitment to the team is; if he is willing to give up athletic aid so it can be spread out to attract more talent, you probably want that kid on your team.

I agree 100%, don't think enough credit is being given to the coaches as the quality of young men they are recruiting. This class already has a ton of camaraderie among them.

Tomorrow seems like it could be Christmas for griz fans..... I'm going to get up at 4 am and sit by
the fax machine. :thumb:

The highlight of my visit was a Saturday morning trip to the HEB grocery, someone said "if you think this is crazy, check out the WalMart"!

Just a quick look around shows that a lot of the recruits are having signings around noon... so might be a long day

That will make it tough for Stitt to do his 11am presentation of the new signees to the QB Club :) :)
