Around the FCS (Oct 18)

EWU will escape with a W. 2:00 minutes left. UNC just threw an interception at midfield. Well UNC showed that EWU's offense can be slowed down. Our Defense is better than UNC's so this is encouraging for the GRIZ.

FYI, the NAU at Portland State game (NAU leads 14-7 early in the 2nd half) is on Root sports, DirecTV 683 or 687.

Wow. PSU just struck with a long (60+) yard running play to tie the game 14-14. Their guy Long is dangerous.

Long is over 200 yards rushing ... by PSU still got stuffed on 4th and goal inside the 4. Kinda feel sorry for the Vikes: Their stadium is really not bad, but with Oregon playing (at home) at the same time, the stands are pretty empty -- those who couldn't get tickets to the O game must have stayed home to watch it on TV.

Not the same offense without Shoota

Getting interesting at Tenn Tech: Tech has scored 14 unanswered points halfway thru the 4th quarter to pull within a TD of #14 E Kentucky.

Hot Damn! Tenn Tech drove down and scored, went for 2, and got it. They lead #13 E Kentucky, 32-31, with less than 4 min to play. (May lose in the end, but you have to give them credit.)

Returning to football from alleged attendance, a less than perfect game for the Griz, etc. -- Tenn Tech just had a great run (63 yards) from scrimmage to extend their lead to 39-31. Hell of a game out there in FCS. (DirecTV Gameplan 789).

Add: Tech intercepted a desperation pass. Looks like another bona fide upset of a ranked team.

Anyone else interested in FCS football, other than the Griz game? Remember ... the best of them will likely be a Griz opponent, hopefully in the mizz-Zoo.

Bottom line: seven of the top-25 ranked teams lost, including three that were playing unranked opponents. Gonna be some big changed in the next rankings (and anyone who thinks the polls don't matter as to who get into the playoffs ... hasn't been paying attention). The fact that the three ranked Big Sky teams won can only help, even if the opponents had crappy records. After all, two other ranked teams played opponents who have not won a game this year.

Getting late, so I'll do my poll guesses tomorrow.

MSU @ Sac State 59-56

CP @ Sac State 56-27

MSU gave up 56 points and 694 yards to Sac State compared to Cal Poly giving up only 27 points and 449 yards.

I am feeling better about Cal Poly's chances this season.
