Was reported early that he would be going to Sam Houston... but that has not happened yet.

The Texas Longhorns figured to experience attrition between now and the start of the 2016 season. On Monday, the first known departure became public.

According to a school officials, sophomore cornerback Jermaine Roberts is no longer in the Texas program. The news of Roberts’ transfer was first reported by Rivals.com late Monday morning.

A 247Sports Composite four-star signee in 2014, Roberts redshirted and was expected to compete for the nickel position last spring. However, a torn ACL during spring drills cost him the entire 2015 season.

I beleive if he's a grad transfer, he can play next year still if he stays FBS so he probably won't come here I'd guess.

From a non-expert. Do you really have to have it explained to you that FBS recruits are generally better players coming out of HS than FCS recruits? When neither have significant experience, who would the bets favor?

I beleive if he's a grad transfer, he can play next year still if he stays FBS so he probably won't come here I'd guess.

As a grad transfer, he can play anywhere he wants FCS or FBS. I think we have another grad transfer on the roster this year that came from an FBS school. I can't remember who that is though

Lane Hovey is his name. The CB transfer we just picked up from Wisconsin (Reynard) is also a grad transfer I believe.

That's who I was thinking but wasn't for sure
 
We certainly needed depth at this position, but I don't recall a lot of JC corners coming in and making a big impact in year one. I do recall several becoming great year two players. Hopefully, he is ready to play and can make an impact right away. With this commit, I assume we missed on another FBS transfer.
