Butterfield is going to miss a lot of the season and I think the Brock issue hopefully is limited to the weekend. Brock picked up an injury in the UNLV weekend, don't know what it is specifically, but out of an abundance of caution they held her out this weekend.
What was thought going to be a strength with Butterfield and Brock combo, has turned into a real weakness at this point.
The pitching is not good and all their athleticism and ability to play defense, isn't going to matter if they are giving up frozen ropes every where. Haegele is good for two trips through the lineup, the that third time this weekend was a killer. O'Brien just isn't good enough right now and Joseph can't locate. In the GCU game on Friday she kept missing in the middle of the zone with her off speed and any of her upper zone fastballs ended up either hip high or un-hittable.
On a good note, the offense looked a ton better as the weekend wore on. They just don't have a lot of clout and without it, they aren't going to have a ton of big innings. Sweyer and Jablonski had good weekends as they have 8 of the 15 doubles on the team and 3 of the 7 homeruns on the season.
They didn't play poorly at all this weekend, but with two true freshmen on the bump it really shows how important good pitching is. They just don't have it right now.
