Press Conference Recap

witnessing history right now. Most likely be gone in 4 years, as he destroy's teams and off to the big boys. But, it will be a fun ride while it lasts. Go Stitt!

Thought he did a nice job. High energy, positive attitude and was upfront about why he is at UM and essentially his goal to coach at the FBS level. But first a championship.

Liked hearing that this will be the most dominant oline in FCS. We shall see but good to hear.

Gregorak, Green, Legi, and Germer are huge additions to his staff.

The history, traditions and rivalries are understandably foreign to him, but that will come quickly I assume.

He has an attitude and cockiness that will be amplified once he fully understands those traditions and the advantages UM has at this level.

Cat fans will hate him. So will Rob Ash. That's a plus.

I think he will be a great fit for UM.

First, let me thank y-stone60 for posting the YouTube videos. I suffered thru the crap they posted at GoGriz, and it was painful. Still, GoGriz did include the Q&A part, which had some interesting points.

The way he talked (I think during that Q&E part), I think he has an "intellectual" understanding of the "hold" football has in Montana -- Griz and kittie. He "gets" that from growing up and playing in Nebraska. But UN football has no rival within the state, and -- really -- no "traditional" rival that generates the heat of Griz-Kat.

The RMAC has some rivalry games, apparently, but the smack over there seems pretty lack to anyone "schooled" on UM-MSU.

Still, Stitt seems like a really bright guy ... it won't take him long to get it. :)

Thanks Brint and get 'em for the play-by-play. Looks like a great hire. I'm happy!

Tough to watch because it keeps loading slow but got the gist. I like this guy and what he said and the way he says it. I like the fact the he thinks this job is better than 50% of the FBS schools so maybe if he works out he won't be in such an all fired hurry to jump to an FBS dumpster fire.
I loved his comment, "Who said its not if you win or loose but how you play the game, I want to play that guy". Winning is everything :thumb:
90 plays a game, our boys are going to be in shape!!!!

Oregon offense comes to UM... :)

Colorado School of Mines (Bob Stitt) was the #1 offensive plays per game team in the country, Baylor was #2.

I just watched the press conference from what I found on youtube. Are there any links to him answering questions?

I am stoked and wish I could play GRIZ football for this guy. I loved his saying the GRIZ will have the best offensive line in the nation (FCS level). I could really really relate to his comparison with Nebraska and Montana football. I've posted quite a few times how similar the football cultures and support are for each state. Also, so stoked when he briefly spoke about Gregorak and the Defense. His saying the GRIZ will run a press defense was music to my ears. This will be great for GRIZ football. It is also exactly what Ty Gregorak needs to better himself and his resume. I've asked a few times here, what will Stitt bring defensively? So stoked he briefly addressed that. Amazing not one egrizzer responded to that question either. Well other than, he will retain Gregorak.

I don't care who a player or recruit is. How can you not want to play for this guy, and be part of his vision? He was well spoken, yet confident without being arrogant. His youngest son is in the 5th grade. To me that says Stitt will be here at least 7 years. Hell this guy just might be the coach willing to stay here until his retirement. He definitely did not strike me as a money chasing and egocentric coach. Loved how he painted the picture of what the opening GRIZ/NDSU game will be like on ESPN.

I AM STOKED!!!! Brint you better be ready for 100% coverage of GRIZ spring drills. lol

"His youngest son is in the 5th grade. To me that says Stitt will be here at least 7 years."

You beat me to it. Who knows if he does well and gets an offer from a different school he can't refuse but I'm getting the horse ahead of the cart a bit.

I think it was genuine when he thanked his wife and kids for supporting this move. Any parent knows it's tough for a child to pack up and leave the comfort zone you have known your whole life.

With that said the adjustment seems to be a bit quicker and seamless when you are 8, 10 or 12ish. Much harder when you are a teenager. Seems like the end of the world.

So here is to hoping Stitt meets and exceeds all of Griz Nations expectations the next few years and his teenage sons fall in love with Montana girls!

His comments about golden make me wonder if he'll ever leave Missoula. Haslom may have hit one totally out of the park if stitt can turn Montana back into a powerhouse. We may have stitt for the long haul!

I am pretty sure it would take a special program and community if he were to move up. I bet his short list would be Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Kansas State, Missouri, Air Force, CSU. When his youngest son graduates, he will be 57. So he might have one more career move up left in him.

I have a funny feeling Stitt plans on seeing us through to the next level (literally)

Was thinking that as well. If um does move up it will potentially be with coach stitt at the helm. If he turns out to be as good as advertised, wow, did Haslom ever get this hire right!! A longtime coach is something I could get used to!

No Stitt man. If that is the case, he could own MT football and the state like Osborne did Nebraska.

This is my thought as well.

Man, I sure hope this happens. This is going to be fun!!

A year from now I'll be watching the Griz in WAGriz instead of this NDSU game.

Go Griz.
