Pro Day Tomorrow (April 2)

You all have no idea about the caliber of the CFL when you keep saying this Griz or that Griz could have a nice career up here. The last Griz player to make a roster up here was Travon Vann, not Jordan Canada, not Jordan Johnson, not Dante Olson, not Dalton Sneed, not Sammy Akem. You think Hill or Gubner can play up here? Everyone of the guys I just mentioned got cut in the pre-season. Pay for cable.

Respectfully to all of the guys you listed, Gubner is a comparably WAY better prospect, in my opinion, than anyone else you listed there.

Gubner is going to play in the NFL, not CFL.
You know my favorite team, and I've been DEEPLY hoping we add him to our stable of young prospects on the d-line. Gubner can play. The team that gets him will be getting an absolute steal of a value.

Hill's compared to listed LB's at the combine:
Bench - 15 reps - dead last
Vertical - 32.5 - tie for 12th
Broad Jump - 9.4 - tie for 15th
40yd - 4.77 tie for 15th
Shuttle - 4.29 - 3rd
3 cone, 7.01. 1st. 6.1.7. height, 228 lbs. Hand 91/8. Wing. 74-5/8.

10 yard split, 1.62. At Combine, those ahead were all 1.54 and 1.59.

I compare Hill to O'Connell, who was on a roster in the NFL this year.

I think O’Connell did 6.97 in 3 cone, had 38.5 in vertical, 4.70 in 40. Didn't lift. 10'2" broad. 1.63 in 10 split. 6.1.1 height, 227 weight. Hand 91/2, Wing 77-7/8.

Only 7 lb's benched at Combine. The lowest was 16. So, 15 would have been 8th.

I know he played for the Cats, but a side by side comparison of Braxton Hill vs Nolan Askelson at their respective pro days:

Hill (6' 1 7/8" 228 lbs)
40: 4.77
Bench: 15 reps
Vert: 32.5"
Broad: 9' 4"
Shuttle: 4.29
L-Drill: 7.01

Askelson (6' 1" 219 lbs)
40: 4.55
Bench: 27 (Would lead all LBs at the 2024 combine)
Vert: 33"
Broad: 9' 8"
Shuttle: 4.41
L-Drill: 7.03

Askelson had a great 40 time. Truly terrific. But he was considerable slower than Hill in the Shuttle and a bit slower in the L-Drill. Hill is 11 pounds heavier and 7/8" taller. Great bench by Askelson. And a bit better broad and vert. by Askelson. Hill had more tackles and sacks per game. I always thought Hill was a better player. But Askelson has some nice numbers.

He did well. I was still surprised at the lower amount of BP reps.

I think Hill has a shot at a FA mini-camp invitation. What we see are the athleticism of the player, we are not privy to what the scouts are, such as skill, football IQ, their S2 results, we do know his career performance. Also, how much importance is the BP really given anymore? It was THE standard for strength 40 years ago. There is so much more involved now.
