Classic Game Thread (Includes 95 Championship). Make sure you have at least 3 hours.

If this was Cat Grope Nation, they'd already be talking about the first TD pass to Bergen and stolen blocked FG attempt as two of the greatest plays in their history....ho hum....

Many of them still watching the 2018 "TO/Fumble" and wishing Choate was still the coach! They live in the past over there!

2007 Griz versus Albany. interesting highlight videos of Bierman, Hilliard, etc.

Took some time to find this, but we really needed a football fix. The Griz totally shut down the Albany running game (92 yards net rushing). Meanwhile, Hilliard put up 136 all by himself (rushing ... plus 35 receiving).

Was at this one. And every one in Flag between ‘93 and 2012. I think in that time we went 10-1 in Flag.

Just saw someone uploaded this gem about a month ago. Sadly I wasn't at this game, but I heard it was incredible! Unfortunately, it ended up being the highest high the program experienced for a long time after this.

Thank you for posting this! Ice cold beer in the fridge. I know what I’m doing for the next 3 hours.

Was this not Pantera’s famous fart-face gate on e-Griz?

Whenever I read older threads like this classic, I’m saddened by some of the great posters we’ve lost.

Of course, I’m also pleased as shit by at least as many who DON’T post here anymore.

That was an absolute pleasure to watch.

Here’s a funny side note: I hadn’t caught the name of the expert commentator as I tried to skip through the opening stuff. But I happened to pause as they were talking up Washington-Grizzly stadium as a fabulous football venue, and what a huge advantage it was for the Griz. The crowds, they said, were “relentless.”

The commentator said he’d played his last college football at WaGriz and it was not a happy experience. They fumbled the initial snap … and the Griz scored. It was 48-0 at halftime (and ended at that score). Then he said, “48-0 at the half, two minutes to go in the game … and no one has left.” Then he quickly went on “15 below zero, snow and sleet coming down … and no one has left.”

He made those two statement so close together, I thought he was talking about the same game. That confused me a bit, because we went to every game that year (including the NC at Marshall) and the only one that stood out for really cold weather (Boy! did it ever!) was the Stephen F. Austin game on December 9. That was not 48-0 Griz at the half, and ended 70-14.

After a few false starts due to that wrong impression, I finally went back and slowed through the early part and discovered that the expert was Tom Luginbill (now a well-regarded scout and analyst for ESPN). He was the QB for Eastern Kentucky in 1995. He had dropped down from starter at Georgia Tech after a coaching shakeup. That first 1995 playoff game was played at temperatures in the low 40s, with light rain in the second half. No big deal.

So Luginbill was actually referring to Griz crowds “in general.” Would that it was still that way, re being still in the seats late in a one-sided game. Sigh.

Well, to a large extent I think it IS still that way for playoff games…not so much in the regular season, for sure tho.

*Sigh* What could have been had not a certain college president screwed it up. How did the supply of tar and feathers not get used up?
