When Obama was elected (twice), there was a run on ammunition both times because the gun nuts thought the government was gonna take their guns and ammo away. Remember that? Did not happen. Never will happen. I am a NRA certified pistol instructor but NOT a NRA member. My students could not get .22 ammo for the class that lasted most of the semester. We had to rely on made in Mexico .22 ammo because one of the students had a connection to a source simply because all the gun nuts went out and hoarded all the .22 ammo they could get their hands on based on their own misguided paranoia. Now, with Biden, the same thing is happening. Certain Americans need to get over their paranoid fears of boogyman government coming to take their guns and get used to our nation leading the world in mass shootings.

Mass shootings mostly in the blue cities and states with the most gun control. A real solution. Gun owners and ammo buyers are nuts; I get it. But you do have one thing right. It is a boogyman federal government we're dealing with that deserves no trust.

Thanks for the book recommendation, Ursa. Just ordered the book and looking forward to the read. Applebaum's "The History of the Gulag"* should be read by anyone who is concerned about what Socialism looks like, not that we need any other proof. What I appreciate about her and Robert Conquest's books (Harvest of Sorrow, a must-read) are they are merciless on communism, control, eliteism, socialism without being right wing drivel.

*I offered the book to two friends who are concerned about socialist trends in the US and warned them them "this book crams 200 pages of info into 600 pages" and they both stopped reading around page 250. Tough read. Ms. Applebaum also writes on how Stalin/socialism/communism purposefully starved out millions of Ukrainians in "Red Famine".

you are concerned about "rioting and looting", which are extremely uncommon and in response to the terrible treatment of a group of people, but not about the endless mass shootings that actually costs lives. universities, some of which are quite corrupt, are nonetheless educating the scientists, physicians, etc, that we need to be healthy and keep competitive in the world. as for children, i thought making sure they were getting a proper education was the responsibility of parents? as for the police, how many departments have truly been defunded? one precinct in seattle? tell us real numbers instead of hysterically whining. the country is only falling apart in your mind. it is so vastly different here than in some dictatorship like china, which is one reason the pandemic has gone on and on, but it isn't falling apart. gawd it gets old. the far left whines, the far right whines, it is all noise, mostly on the internet, not in reality.
