Agreed. Give me a 290 lb. O-lineman with good footwork, quickness, and the ability to run and I'll take him every day over a 325 lb. behemoth who can't get out of his own way. Yes, there are 325 lb. linemen in college football who can also move...... but they play at the FBS level.

Will Pheohls, Levi Horn, Danny Kistler, just a few that played for bobby and were all over 325. I think if you look at the starting O-Line for Bobby in 2008-09 all were over 325. I am just going off memory.

I think the roster would disagree with you.

61 Jake Raynock Fr. OG 6-2 255 Billings, Mont. / Skyview HS
66 Russell Piette Jr. OG 6-4 310 Vancouver, WAsh. /
74 Jon Opperud So. OG 6-7 305 Portland, Ore. / Milwaukie HS
77 Terran Hillesland Sr. OG 6-7 323 Sidney, Mont. / Sidney HS
57 Charles Burton So. OL 6-5 315 Long Beach, Calif. / Milikan HS
TBD Kyle Hofmann Fr. OL 6-4 280 Orcas Island, Wash. / Orcas Island HS
72 Levi Horn Sr. OT 6-7 315 Spokane, Wash. / Rogers HS

And you sir are correct! I stand corrected! That it what I get for trying to follow my memory, I should have looked it up 1st. I looked at past rosters and found that only Danny Kistler was 335 and Will Phoels was only 315 in 2010 and Bobby was gone.

Unfortunately, one of those big tackles was absolutely abused by the Richmond DE, Lawrence Sidbury, in the 2008 national championship game! The early hit that Cole took to the thigh along with repeated DE pressure took our offense out of the game.

Quinn 310, Horn 315, Hillesland 323, Dyk 295. However, Horn, Hillesland and Dyk were very tall and had even more leverage. Quinn was simply mean.

My understanding was that "big tackle" had a bad wheel/foot that kept him from being 100% effective against Sid.

Subtract about 5 - 6 inches in height from each one and you have the start of a good list of eGriz members! :thumb:

Well at 6’2”, 270 I guess I’m the tight end?

Wait...that didn’t sound right.

As long as you, as a TE, don't have a lot of wide receiver in you.........

Yeah he had three surgeries after the season on that ankle. ;)

My recollection was that one tackle, big tall kid from eastern MT, was hurt and said he couldn't go. Russum was also hurt and not planning to play, but said, sure, I will play. He had a very bad ankle. Couldn't move one direction to the side (I think couldn't go inside). Sid actually played on both sides of the field. Think Horn was on one side. Think Sid's sacks came from both sides. At halftime, or some point, Quinn told everyone he was moving from center to guard, so he could protect Russum's inside, which he did. Things got better in the second half. All, to my recollection. No guarantees.

That's about as thin (figuratively speaking) as thin gets in a critical position. Suuuuure hope 2-3 of those true freshman are ready for trial by fire...

In my opinion, the only thing wrong with that, is the Fr behind so many of them. Pretty quality overall group. Now, how about 2 last second drop downs...

Take the Minnesota Vikings. Offensive line coach of several years dies a month or so before fall camp. First game, 4 starters are out. Replacements, well coached and working together man-handle Denver's 1's and 2's in running and passing game. It can be done, folks.
