JJ signs in CFL

Sports Network also lists Brock Jensen as signing with Ottawa. Should be an interesting qb competition.

Former Bison QB Jensen heads to CFL
(SportsNetwork.com) - The winningest quarterback in FCS history has landed north of the border.

Brock Jensen, who led North Dakota State to the first three of the Bison's unprecedented run of FCS national championships over the past four seasons, has signed with the Ottawa REDBLACKS, the CFL organization announced Friday.

Jensen had a 47-5 record with 48 total wins while guiding NDSU from 2010-13, which included two playoff wins as a freshman before the Bison began their national championship run during his sophomore season. He was named the most outstanding player of the Bison's 2012 and '13 national title wins.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder previously spent time in the Miami Dolphins' training camp last year and played with the Omaha Mammoths in the 2014 FXFL season.

Former Illinois State linebacker Evan Frierson, like Jensen out of the Missouri Valley Football Conference, also signed with the REDBLACKS on Friday.

Expect to see a battle for the third QB roster spot between JJ and Jensen and two others Alex Carder from W.Michigan and Danny O'Brien from Catawba (whatever that might be, lol). Ottawa will mostly likely start Thomas DeMarco who has shown some flashes there and in Toronto (he's out of Old Dominion) and they still have "Smilin Hank" Burris who is a future CFL Hall of Famer. Burris will turn 40 this season so they may go with a youth thing and dump salary which would help JJ's chances. Unfortunately Burris is one of the few guys on the roster that anybody would have heard of so he sells tickets.

Hopefully they can put JJ in a position where is skill set will shine.
