Shaun White. What can you say? USA USA
didn't take long for his sexual harassment lawsuit to take the air outta that.
I don't think the lawsuit, which was more about wrongful termination and wages, and involved a former member of his band, and is now settled, will have much impact. It doesn't change my view of White. 3 golds and 4 tries, and a gold in that sport in his 30's, is very impressive. He performance in the prelims and finals were outstanding, and he has to come from behind to get the gold on his last run.
"In 2016, White was sued by a former bandmate named Lena Zawaideh for sexual harassment, wrongful termination, wage nonpayment, and other labor code violations."
"the lawsuit by a former drummer in White's rock band, Bad Things. Lena Zawaideh said White sexually harassed her and refused to pay her wages after he fired her. The lawsuit was settled in May for an undisclosed amount."
"In the lawsuit, Zawaideh said White repeatedly sexually harassed her, forced her to watch pornography and told her how to get her hair cut. The lawsuit included screengrabs of text messages allegedly sent by White asking about the haircut and suggesting she wear a provocative outfit."
[It isn't surprising to me that the leader of a band would want the band to dress and look at certain way, as they are performers. And yes, that might involve the women looking good or sexy.]
"The lawsuit also said White grabbed Zawaideh's buttocks shortly after leaving a band practice and that he once shoved a bottle of vodka into her mouth and forced her to drink from it. It also said that "White stuck his hands down his pants, approached Zawaideh, and stuck his hands in her face trying to make her smell them." The lawsuit also says White tried to kiss Zawaideh at a Halloween party."
[This was a band and people in their 20's. Partying and having fun. It wasn't some big company, a media organization, or Hollywood production company. Some drunk guy grabbed my daughter's butt outside a bar a few years ago, and she turned around and decked him. Her brother, an Army Ranger at time, had taught her how to punch quickly at close range, i.e. in close combat situations where you need to buy a second or two to get to a weapon.]
