Post Game: An expected result but still a frustrating loss

Yep, but at least at #14 we were in control of our game. Must suck being #2 and knowing Weber State was in more control of that game. Now we will just sit back and see how many of your players get arrested tonight.
Again:
Nothing really says "GRIZ envy" quite like an msu fan on eGriz after a cat loss just to point out why their loss was better than ours. But doing it twice, in one thread no less....???

Our play calling needs to improve, let JJ run the offense he knows with Van instead of a re-tread Colorado State offense from the early 1980s

You said a mouthful there! I was watching the MSU/EWU game on another screen while our game was going. MSU runs a dynamic offense with lots of mis-direction, counters, and pulling guards. It is a fun offense to watch, and very productive. Prokop is the real deal, and is better than McGhee. Then, my eyes had to return to the other screen to watch the morose UM offense stumble through another futile series.

The games has long since passed Delaney by. He needs to retire. End of story.

Bull's-eye - nailed it.

In control of your game? Tied it up real late after a very lucky fumble recovery only to lose the lead after not covering on a 4th and 10 and then letting EWU score a 2-point conversion to win it. That's being in control? Interesting...

Poole and Schmaing were supposed to anchor a young O-line. Poole's medical condition couldn't have been helped. Schmaing's stupidity, on the other hand....

Do the world a favor and eat a .45 cal tonight d bag.

**Mod Edit** Nooooope.

NDSU wasn't as good as advertised. Great D, but the offense didn't have the points to go with their yards.
Defense was ok. Really really soft zone until we got backed into they red zone and had to move up. There were a few groans at the game when NDSU receivers would run to the first down marker for a catch and Montana's db would square up 2 yards deeper, ready to give up the first down, but not one yard more. Sheesh. That works great if your defensive front is getting to the quarterback, but when they're not it's pretty much a bust.

The offense was the bigger problem. Most if not all of the first down drives lasted a minute or less. Oline was struggling mightily. But the NDSU secondary was playing everything pretty close. Close enough that the slightest juke or hesitation was all NDSU needed to close.

The venue was nothing special. It was OK, but all that bluster about noise and rowdy home field advantage was bogus.

NDSU is a good team. Are they the best FCS team of the last 20 years? That's a stretch.

Would be great to play NDSU every year.

Or I could just hit on Jimmy Wilson's Aunt and he can do if for me.
Whichever gets the job done

If he'd gotten his work done over the years he'd been here he would not have found himself in the situation he was in. (No sarcasm).

Do you really think the Griz could control our offense? ..

Worth a note that if the shoe was on the other foot and UM managed one touchdown and five field goal attempts, the Griz would have lost. Five is a new single game record at NDSU, by the way.

Have to wonder if EWU can stop anyone's offense at this point.

I just wonder how many times EWU is going to be able to use the "they were a really good team" when allowing over 50 points/game. High powered offense, yes. But will they be able to go past the 3rd round of the playoffs, when the weak teams have been thinned, I say no.

Mods,
Ban this shithead.

Gameplan needs to adjust to help a young O-Line, especially against the studs that NDSU had on their D-Line. When JJ did have time he found receivers (Jones and Henderson's rediculous catch). They can get better

Agreed. I can't help but wonder if they got a little too confident in the play of the tackles and put them 1 on 1 a few times too many today.

The Eagles hung over 50 on UW...a middle of the road Pac 12 outfit......care to make an early prediction on how many pts. the Griz will give up....since they obviously have a Pac 12 defense that just plays "lights out" according the the fans

No one has brought it up so am I the only one who noticed this?

For the first time this season we used 3 corners (Harris, Dennard, Nelson) instead of only two corners in many of the nickel plays.

No sure how much of an effect it had but it certainly was a change, maybe it helped getting FG's instead of TD's, and the one TD ND got - the Griz were back to the usual 2 corners
