Not all gun news is bad news. From the Idaho State Journal, March 25, 2014:

"After passing a law that allows concealed weapons to be carried on Idaho university campuses earlier this month, Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter went one step further last week when he signed into law Senate Bill 1332, which will effectively nullify federal gun laws in the state.

The Idaho Federal Firearms, Magazine and Register Ban Enforcement Act passed the House by a vote of 68 to 0 and the Senate by 34 to 0.
In a statement released Monday, Otter said his office worked on Senate Bill 1332 with Senators Bart Davis, Marv Hagedorn and other state law makers.
“I signed it into law as a way of protecting our Second Amendment rights under the United States Constitution and indemnifying Idaho law enforcement officials from enforcing federal firearms or ammunition restrictions that conflict with Section 11, Article I of the Idaho Constitution,” Otter said.
Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen said... “The new law applies only to the enforcement of gun laws. Basically, I won’t enforce any law that goes against the Idaho Constitution.”
Nielsen, a past Idaho Association of Sheriffs president, said the new law does not disregard the U.S. Constitution, but applies to laws enacted by executive order.
“My obligation is to the state, not to executive order, you can’t enact laws through executive order,” Nielsen said."

Executive Order, what obama said he would be doing if he does't get his way.

And what of Montana law?

Another reason I like Idaho.

Otter is a tool but he got this right.........Montana has too many liberals to ever come close to passing an awesome law like this one.

Murders in the Windy City have plummeted since the Illinois legislature enacted its concealed weapon carry law, and the state Supreme Court upheld a person’s right to carry firearms outside the home.

The Chicago Police Department posted the city’s 2014 first quarter crime figures Tuesday, indicating the lowest number of homicides since 1958, according to local ABC affiliate Eyewitness 7 News, which reported:

The first three months of the year saw 6 fewer murders than the same time frame in 2013–a 9 percent drop–and 55 fewer murders than 2012, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

There were 90 fewer shootings and 119 fewer shooting victims, drops of 26 and 29 percent respectively, according to police statistics. Compared to the first quarter of 2012, there have been 222 fewer shootings and 292 fewer shooting victims.

So what’s changed that could possibly account for such a dramatic fall in a city that was fast becoming known for its homicide rates — especially in its notorious South Side neighborhoods?

In July, the Illinois legislature overrode Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn’s veto to make The Land of Lincoln the final state in the country to have a concealed firearm carry permit law.

Two months later, the Illinois Supreme Court added an exclamation point to the lawmakers’ action. It unanimously held that the Second Amendment protects one’s right to carry a firearm outside the home.

Independent Journal Review reported:

Gun crime experts John Lott, Jr. and David Mustard made the famous argument in “Crime, Deterrence, and Right-to-Carry Concealed Firearms” that: “When state concealed handgun laws went into effect in a county, murders fell by 8.5 percent, and rapes and aggravated assaults fell by 5 and 7 percent.” More guns mean less crime.

Gary Kleck, PhD., also a gun crime expert, found that the crime deterrence effect of firearms possession is significant: sophisticaed statistics suggest three to four crimes are stopped by a handgun than are committed in the United States every year.

Tuesday’s tragic shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, should teach us, if nothing else, “gun-free zones” — whether they be schools, cities or military bases — don’t work. They’re a deterrent to a law-abiding citizen; they’re an invitation to a criminal.

I don't know if Chicago is taking after Kennesaw, GA which is famous for it's pro gun law, but it's a start... Never in my wildest dream would I think it would happen in Obama Jr.'s mayoral-ship...

Hopefully the voters in all races in all states will see that and vote to bury libs and like minded repubs this year... There's really not that many in power under Pelosi and Feinstein and Reed etc... A bunch of ass kissing lapdogs that ask those 3 "Mommy may I"...

That shit will end sooner than the libs think, just watch it... Never thought I would thank Obama, but his stupid health law enabled career suicide for countless sheep... BAAAHHHHH

Good, if they need ammo let me know. I would rather have fags, pedophiles and rapists around than liberals.

:coffee:

That fu*king hand puppet is everyones bitch.............I bet Holder nails him with a strap on and signs illegal gun deals on his back while doing it.

Gun Owners of America

Obama Budget Lays Groundwork
for Universal Gun Registry
And ATF makes the import ban on 5.45x39 ammo official

Last Friday, Attorney General Eric Holder testified before a House appropriations subcommittee on behalf of his department's proposed budget for FY2015.

Apparently, Holder didn't think anyone would read his written submission, because he all-but-admitted that Obama intends to implement a Universal Gun Registry by executive fiat.

He also asked Congress to help fund so-called “smart gun” technology, which would prevent a gun from firing unless the shooter is wearing an accompanying bracelet or ring.

“Smart guns” are a dumb idea

Given that “smart gun” technology only works about 80 percent of the time -- according to the New Jersey Institute of Technology -- gun owners almost universally consider this a “dumb” idea.

Even police have rejected the “dumb gun” approach for themselves.

Currently, there are no such guns on the market in the United States. One gun store did briefly offer an Armatix .22 caliber earlier this year, but public outrage forced them to pull the handgun from the shelves.

Holder pushes a Universal Gun Registry

This year’s Obama budget shows how the administration is trying to quietly create the infrastructure for a universal gun registry.

In proposed “Program Increases” for the FBI, Holder has this to say:

“This program enhancement will double the capacity of the existing NICS [National Instant Check System] system. These expansions are vital in ensuring that the NICS system can support a Universal Background Check requirement, which is expected to double gross NICS transactions.”

Huh?

It may have escaped the Attorney General's notice, but the Democrat Senate defeated his Universal Background Check requirement.

So, in effect, Holder's asking for $100 million and 524 personnel to implement a program Congress rejected.

But that's not all.

Holder seeking more ATF agents to copy to 4473 forms

In the section on ATF “Program Increases,” Holder demands $51.1 million and 255 agents and other personnel for enforcement and inspections.

In case anyone has forgotten, these are the people who are going to the FFL's in connection with “annual inspections” -- and physically copying all the 4473's and bound book entries. GOA has reported on these efforts before, and one can read first-hand accounts from gun dealers here and here.

So under Holder's proposed budget, many more 4473's would be copied and fed into ATF's de facto registry.

At the same time, Obama's illegal Universal Background Check -- implemented, presumably, by executive fiat -- would ensure every gun transaction would have to go through an FFL. And this, of course, would guarantee that every American gun owner would have a 4473 which can be copied.

Think about it. With Republicans expected to take the Senate this fall -- and Obama stymied legislatively -- he has every incentive to go "full tyrant." And that, apparently, is exactly what he intends to do.

But we have no intention to sit back and let Holder take away our Second Amendment rights. We have drafted legislation to prohibit ATF from copying 4473's -- and to require it to destroy any 4473's it currently has.

UPDATE: GOA recently alerted you that an import ban on certain ammunition could be forthcoming from the ATF. Well, it’s official now -- the ATF just declared that Russian-made 7N6 5.45x39 ammo is armor piercing. This lawlessness represents another reason that Congress needs to cut t he ATF’s budget.

ACTION: Contact your Representative. Demand that the Commerce-Justice-Science appropriations bill contain language to prohibit ATF from compiling a national gun registry by copying and retaining the 4473's of every American.

His agenda and stupidity are infringing so I could care less.

All these idiots are doing is drawing lines and setting themselves up to be dealt with in a way they are not going to like.

Nobody is going to NOR SHOULD THEY HAVE to follow anything these idiots say.

I abide by the constitution, its not my fault they dont.

Ok have y'all been paying attention to the Bundy ranch situation in NV? Reid wants to steal this guys land to put up a solar farm funded by the Chinese. There has been a call to arms for all militias so this doesn't end up being another ruby ridge.

Anyway, some think this could be the powder keg to set off the 2nd American Revolution. For which, Obama has been stocking up on ammo and equipment.

Strap in... The ride's about to get a little bumpy.

It's all a false "water testing" psychological operation... They want to know how much and how many people will get pissed off... They could care less about the land, they have plenty to do whatever they want with...

As far as stocking up on ammo and equipment, true of course, but who is going to use it??? I never met one Service Member or Police Officer in my career that would take up arms against American citizens...

They know they can't win, that's why they just poke the hornets nest... If they could get away with disarming us, they would have done it a long time ago under King Bush, AKA Dubya... Not to mention Obama...

Obama can FIAT until the pigs really do fly, but it won't change anything... Most states are laughing at the Feds

OMG! I'm agreeing with a Cat fan. Now I know this country is doomed. Lock and load! Here's an article from back in '08, which for those unaware, should be interesting:

By Tom Leonard in New York

Igor Panarin, a professor at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian foreign affairs ministry, said the economic turmoil in the US had confirmed his long-held belief that the country was heading for extinction in its present form.

In an interview with the Russian newspaper Izvestia, he outlined how the US would divide along ethnic and cultural lines.

They are: the Pacific coast with its growing Chinese population; the increasingly Hispanic South; independence-minded Texas; the Atlantic Coast; a central state with a large Native American population; and the northern states where – he maintains – Canadian influence is strong.

Alaska could be claimed by Russia, he said, claiming that the region was "only granted on lease, after all".

He said the country's break-up would be accelerated by rising unemployment and Americans losing their savings.

"The dollar isn't secured by anything. The country's foreign debt has grown like an avalanche; this is a pyramid, which has to collapse," said Prof Panarin.

Public dissatisfaction was growing and was held back only by the election and the hope that Barack Obama "can work miracles", he said. "But when spring comes, it will be clear that there are no miracles."
