Why I hate the Bobcats

boy tokyogriz, i don't read anywhere in my statement that i hope someone dies. all my statement is saying is that these people need to calm down and enjoy the game. if the game makes you that mad, then you probably shouldn't be there or watch college football. you're going to give yourself a heart attack if it makes you THAT emotional. i took my son to the game because we enjoy college football, and it was made less enjoyable by those people.

ahhh, my favorite annual thread of the year....."my fans are classier than your friends" :thumb: it arises at different times of the year...but you can bank on it that it WILL show up here. something to chew on...I have never spit on anyone...i have never screamed at a woman or child...i have never vandalized a car...i have never spit on a car...i have never flipped someone off for being a griz fan...i think the esg/gcg chant is lame...

i'm a cat fan. geeze, i must be the ONLY cat fan that acts like this....

you guys crack me up......this holyer than thou garbage that griz fans are better than cat fans and vice versa is priceless. I took my son to a game at wa-griz a few years ago, sat in section 124, and i had dill hole fans in front of me turn around and yell at my young son because he wasn't lathering at the mouth for the griz. i laughed at them because i knew they would probably cardiac out in a few years. :thumb:

This states you saying it will be humorous to you when these people are dead from a cardiac. Wishing or just enjoying someones death isnt real far from the same thing there mate. It does show your true character in your own words. Enjoying the suffering of others.

And yes it is possible that some ashole griz fan yelled at you. You didnt really state what he or she said but if they ruined your day then they are asholes. Just imagine a couple hundred or more griz fans doing this to you at the same time, spitting on you and threatening you and your family and then you can imagine what its like to take your family to bozeman as a griz fan.

This BS isnt made up either it really happens and happens a HELL OF A LOT in bozeman. Theres no reason for this and its a stain on MSU and the state of Montana.

And like I said I know there are asholes in missoula just a HELL OF A LOT LESS ( IMO 95% less) of them which means my friends who come heres as cat fans (well some of my family from eastern montana seems inclined... ugh) can enjoy the game with their familys and NEVER feel that their safety is endangered. The same goes for ANYONE from teams playing Montana. Fans from other states often state how much fun and how great the people are here to opposing teams. MSU is not like that I assure you.

IMO you would have to go to Downtown Missoula AFTER the game talk a bunch of shit to drunk morons to have any issues. But even there most the time you would most likely just be laughed at and bought a drink. I myself have had quite a few converstions with cat fans like this.

And I can 100% guarantee if I saw any griz fans pull any of that shit happen at a game I would step into it and stop it. So would almost every person I know who is a U of M fan. This shit is for fun and the pride of University AND OUR STATE. Not to hurt people for kicks like it seems to be for many MSU fans.

I have to agree with ILTC - this post comes up each year and is pretty entertaining. I live in Bozeman. I have several strong ties to the University of Montana. I am a die hard Griz fan. I attend all the Griz home games. When the Griz are on the road, I attend MSU games if they are at home. This provides a good opportunity to watch college football, size up the Cats and opponents that the Griz may have down the road. The majority of my friends and coworkers are big Bobcat fans. We have a very friendly rivalry. I respect thier allegiance to MSU and they respect mine to UM. All that being said, I dont think there is much difference between the fans at either place. The majority of fans that attend each game cause no problems. A small few, usually in the student sections get out of hand and cause the types of problems that are being discussed. I believe that from the UM perspective, the stadium at MSU is much smaller and more people are closer to the MSU student section where the problems generally come from.

One last thing - I have Griz plates on my car and a Griz window sticker in the rear window. I have never been spit on, flipped off by anyone or had my car vandalized - maybe I am just lucky.

Go Griz!

I too have a lot of cat friends and a daughter that just graduated from there. My problem with the cats is their mndless jealousy of the Griz -- esg gcg. I did and do ahve a problem when the event security had every opportunity to prevent fights from happening but moved out of the way so they could watch the action. That was enough to sour me on thier program. I am Montanan through and through. If the cats manage to slide into the national championship game and be playing someone other than the Griz I will cheer for them.
Go Griz!

thank you griz in cat land. tokyogriz, you need to step back from football...mate...holy cow? my son and i love college football. we go to cat games, we go to griz games. we laugh at people like my father-in-law who gets so red faced at griz games  we enjoy watching and talking about players and the game. the incident with the butt heads in front of us was not indicative of ALL griz fans and we don't let it run our lives.

As you should Hokeyfine. I feel the same way. It is good to hear Griz in cat lands experience and I hope that is more common than it seems. But the sad truth is many visitors to MSU for the cat griz game dont get treated that well and thats fact.

I only pointed out you stated you laughed thinking about the person who harrased would DIE from a cardiac in the near future. Maybe you should think before you type stuff like this if it isnt your true position.

Enjoy your year and I do hope both Montana and MSU do well this year, with U of M beating cats and taking the conference of course though. But thats the same position I take every year. And if by some MIRACLE of GOD the cats are in the NC I will wish them well because we both represent Montana my home. Well home away from home but my home.

If that is true then thats pretty pathetic on their part. Your reply hoping they die soon also shows a bit of your own nature doesnt it.

Didnt the fans in bozeman get super pissed off and harras he officials after a game? Thought I remember hearing about it on the news that the officials had to be escorted to their cars by the police. If anyone knows please if this is true or NOT please let me know thanks. Trying to get more info atm. Seem like 4-8 years ago maybe...

Edit note - lol Bear axed beat me to it. hey bear axed can you post any links on that? I remember seeing it in the news but cant find links.

Everytime I drive through by the litter box, I love seeing the 0-0 tie national champion banner on display... and then hearing from Cat fans that it is legitimate.

This past year at the litter box, as I explained some parts of the game to my girlfriend, we passed some Cat fans... right on cue without any prodding, they wanted to fight not only me but my girlfriend as well. I love suffering through a game at that "stadium".

Go Griz!

good post. however, you have to understand that it comes with the territory. i'm not making excuses for idiot cat fans that get out of line. but i can assure you it's way easier for griz fans to cheer for cat fans than vice versa based on success alone. you guys have turned your program into a powerhouse. you routinely take it to the cats. by cat accounts...you win games you should lose. ;) all this adds up to cat fans hating everything griz. i can assure you that if the shoe was on the other foot, there would be a lot more cat fans that could muster the courage to cheer for the griz if they had an element of success. now, i'm a viking fan and i'm by no means saying they are an nfl power. however, i routinely root for the lions to do well becuase they have been a bottom feeder for so long. you think it's as easy for a lions fan to root for the vikes? thus is life...

Answer - It doesnt add anything of value to our State or the game at all. Oh expect all the BS attacks etc by MSU fans. Thats real special.

I think you've been away from this game for too long. To me, your statement is equivalent to the dumbest thing on this board. I love this rivalry, and would freak out if we lost it. And every year when this thread comes up i have the same comments. I will never EVER miss a griz/cat game. When i'm 95, my wheelchair will need four-wheel drive to get me thru that shithole they call a parking lot and into their stadium. That is, btw, my biggest complaint. I would like for once to step out of my truck and not land in mud. but, on the other hand, nothing says college football like drunken, muddy students. I fricken love it. So my suggestion, don't pave the kids' party lot, but pave everything else.

What does it add to our state? If you have to ask this, you're clueless. Every tv in the state is tuned in. Go to any podunk bar and there will be a party going on, guarantee. It is THE biggest event of the year in MT, and people tune in from all over the world. I dare you to compare it to any other "event" in MT. E.g., St. Paddy's day in butte = i don't think people in Two Dot give a shit, nor does anyone "tune in" for it.

I honestly think MSU gets a bad wrap for this kind of stuff b/c our wine-n-cheese crowd can dish it but not take it. That to me is even more embarrassing than some of these accounts. i'm not calling you a wine-n-cheeser, hammer, some do have bad experiences. But those are the exception (and happen at both schools) and the rest gets exaggerated by our wine-n-cheesers. My god, it's one of the longest running rivalries in the country. And its FOOTBALL you bunch of pantywaists. I would actually prefer it if the wine-n-cheesers stay home because they are the ones that usually fuel these nasty exchanges, by over reacting. I've had plenty of shit flicked my way and i simply smile and say, "we'll see if you're still talking after the game." Nothing eats at an MSU alum more than a shit-eating-grin. They know they can't win on the field, so don't let them win in the parking lot.

Calling others names for being pansies? What are you still in grade school tough man?

Listen over the last 20 years or so since the U of M got better this friendly in state "rivalry" has taken a much uglier tone. Thats a fact. ILOVETHECATS summed it up in his last post pretty well, well at least the bs exscuses for the lame shit like attacking others etc.

If you enjoy starting shit and taking shit good for you man. I dont and I dont enjoy my family and friends getting abused when we try to go to the cat/griz game in bozeman either.

Like I said in the late 80s me and my family and friends who all are UM fans in missoula were glued to the TV cheering the cats on even though they lost cause they represent US. US being Montanans on the national stage. We were proud of em.

Flash forward 20 years its endless BS and hassles for ALOT of folks when they want to go to bozeman and watch the CAT/Griz game with their friends and families. And not all the BS is just MSU fans, but honestly the vast Majority of it is.

That Bar owner in Bozeman (SPECS) last year who PAID hard cash for a add in the Bozeman paper on the NC game day just to tell the griz to fuk off and cheered on the Villanova team was really the epitomy of LOW. That man doesnt give a crap about Montana, or people like me who grew up there and love it. Thats really the same attitude that many cat fans seem to have, at least the ones who cause so many problems.

If you are willing to take a big crap on people from Montana and like that beating the shit out of others, spitting on them, threatening them (and Officials you dont like), etc then you jump right in with the MSU fans man.

Thats all totally unacceptable IMO though.

TokyoGriz, there were plenty of Cat fans pulling for the Griz. You pick out the one person who happened to put a sign up (which was taken down and apologized for) and you pretend that is all Cat fans. The reason you have such a negative experience with Cat fans is that you are a Griz fan. The same goes both ways, don't put on rose colored spectacles and act like the Griz fans are not actively participating in the same stuff as the Cat fans, you just don't see it because you aren't subject to it. It goes both ways. Its a rivalry, there are assholes on both sides of the fence. I am a Griz fan through and through, but by no means do I think that Griz fans are incredibly polite, and the Cat fans are responsible for the vitriol of the rivalry. I would say most Cat/Griz fans go for the respective rivals every week but one. Quit acting like you are so much better, its the same all around.
