CB transfer from Utah has 2 years of eligibility remaining. I don't think anybody knew about this guy. He totally slipped through the cracks

Looks like he had quite a few mountain west and pac 12 offers out of hs. Solid pickup.

Also fast. Ran a 6.6 55 meter dash at the Weber State Invitational in '22.

This kid played QB in HS. Moved to CB as a senior after starting soph and jr years as QB at his HS.

This is his brother. His dad is a coach and played at Oregon.

This class is really looking good now, with a solid mix of FBS transfers with high ceilings and a core of Montana talent. It’s exactly how a Montana roster should be built! Stoked to see what all these studs can bring to the table!

OMG. Just put me in a Rip Van Winkle mode and then wake me the middle of Aug. The run up to next season is going to be something. Don't know if the old ticker can take it.

Went to Portal on Oct. 18.

"Lawler joins safety Jadon Pearson, who entered the portal as a graduate transfer, in the transfer portal. The only players that can transfer before Dec. 5, 2023 are graduate transfers.

Tabbed as a sophomore on Utah’s roster, Lawler has been in school since 2020, when the three-star recruit committed to Utah. Lawler saw the field sparingly on special teams in 2020 and 2021. He played 31 snaps last season at cornerback, according to Pro Football Focus, with a pass breakup, in addition to playing 21 snaps on special teams.

This season, Lawler has played three snaps at cornerback, plus 32 snaps on special teams, but was behind Zemaiah Vaughn, Miles Battle, JaTravis Broughton, Tao Johnson and Faybian Marks in terms of cornerback snaps."

Legit Rivals 3-star recruit. Puzzling why he wasn't able to get many snaps at CB for the Utes.

The Utes Secondary and defense as a whole this past year was stacked, honestly the only reason Utah had an okay season with all the injuries they had. So far they have had 2 Safties and a CB declaring for the draft.

I get it. But if three of their starting D-backs will be leaving, one would think he would stay around for the possibility to be a starter. Just a thought. Maybe he didn't feel the coach had his back, and wanted a new start to his career

He sucks and we’re going to suck.

Is that what you want to hear?

Or, he saw the opportunity to play for a national championship, in a great environment, for a great coaching staff and thought that would be better than staying at Utah.
