How is it that Zac Tierney has neither a Griz nor a ‘Scat offer? Grades?

His grades are good. Comes from an amazing family as well. Really good, up beat/fun kid. He flips a switch when he hits the field, turns into aggressive. 😁

He got injured his Sophomore State wrestling tournament (had to bow out), still placed at Heavyweight for the second year in a row.

He was All-State in Football, both ways, his Junior year. He then had off-season surgery, and sat out his whole Junior wrestling season (would have been a serious champion contender).

Schools typically hold off on kids that get injured their Junior and Sophomore years.

But he is is 100% healthy now, and definitely a very top recruit.

Talk about DOLA; this kid!

Any idea which way he leans?

He was on the Butte baseball team that won state and had a very long season. Not sure he went to any camps.

Nice catch, PL!

He was the Designated Hitter on the Montana Class A Legion state champion Butte Miners. They went onto Utah and won the Class A Legion Northwest Regional tournament. Their is no World Series for Class A, only Class AA; so Butte's season recently ended.

Tierney had the winning RBI's that sent Montana (Butte) to the Northwest Regional Championship game undefeated. 🏆🏆

Tierney is a 3-sport standout. Sports that require leverage, and quick hand/eye ability.

All season, when Tierney would get beaned at the plate, he would immediately do a hard 90 (sprint) down to first base. Like it tickled or something! Loved seeing that (his hustle)!!

If you don't know what Zach Tierney looks like, you can't appreciate how funny this video is: 🤣

Will he be a football player?

Possible why he’s received no schollie offers from either in state school. Maybe he’s told both coaches he wants to play baseball.

His options are open for the three sports, but I believe football is his favorite sport.

I think a healthy SR football campaign will bring the offers he deserves. 💯

He is a GRIZ Fan. Would like to play with his teammate Guernsey, and Tanner Huff and Jake Olson also from Butte High.

He hasn't told the coaches that. He prefers football.
Many school's coaches are always checking in with him/his rehab. Since he was hitting towering homers this spring and summer, that would suggest his shoulder is doing pretty well. Hahaha

Well the Griz better jump on him quick before the scats do. Lots of times the 1st offer means the most to a kid.

I’m tired of the ‘scats scarfing up all the best O-line talent in the state. We need to get this guy.

He did commit on the 16th and he is from Missoula.

Aren’t the Griz out of Missoula?

I guess I just did not see any harm in a local paper writing a story on a local player, who some claim to be the best football player in Montana, going on to play D1 football. He has worked hard and deserves a little notoriety.

Nor do I. The “harm” is in NOT writing a story about a state player coming to play for the LOCAL college team. That’s the part people have issue with. had they done both (or neither) it would have made way more sense.

What in the wide wide world of sports is going on here????

Above the fold Missourian sports section story about Jones joining the scats on 8/18. Nothing about Gurnsey joining the Griz 18th or 19th. Great hometown newspaper.

The missoulian may have shared the article cus it’s about a local kid but it was wrote by the scats beat writer.

I guess Bill seen your complaints so he spent 5 min while on the shitter to write a quick 500 words or less article about a legacy with a pretty solid pedigree committing to his dads alma mater.

Billings West got a new RB transfer this year. Moved here from Yakima, WA about 2 months ago. Parents are both doctors. He is a senior and built. 6’ tall. I haven’t seen him play but he looks the part and heard he’s the real deal. Wonder if the coaches know anything about him.
