Seems like a fun and appropriately-timed topic.
Post four (4) incoming freshmen, two on offense and two on defense, that you think are best suited to be outstanding Grizzlies in the future.
I like Dareon Nash at WR. Mike Ferriter described him as "the second coming of smooth", and on his highlight film that's what you see. Smooth route runner, goes up and high-points the ball, does damage after the catch with a nasty combination of speed and quickness. Remind you of anybody? I'd say this is a Jamaal Jones type of WR in the works. Everyone drools over our 6-5 WRs, and for good reason....but this guy is going to be our Mr. Dependable who can burn ANY defense.
In Stitt's offense, we should expect the QB to be first team all conference....let's hope Gresch Jensen is that guy. On film, he looks like the entire package. Great arm, smart kid, keeps his eyes downfield when scrambling, and has the ability to hurt defenses with his legs. I also think his size was a factor in Stitt recruiting him. 6-2, probably end up around 6-3 or so once he's a JR-SR. He's got a little beef to him as well, hopefully this makes him more durable than most. Only thing that's left to be determined is if he has the intangibles to be the focal point and leader of this team.
On defense, I'm shocked that Randy Rodriguez flew under the radar the way he did. Huge guy, I believe 6-4 240, and has more speed than anyone at that size should. His film is impressive, making plays all over the field, relentlessly pursuing the ball carrier, works through double teams, and hits like a train. Could be a defensive lineman of a caliber that we've never seen before. I think a Tyronne Holmes/Kidder hybrid? That would be terrifying. Plus, he's specifically said that it's this classes' goal to get Montana back to winning championships. Hendricks touted Rodriguez as being a high-character guy. I think we got a good one here.
On the back end of the defense, Gavin Crow could be a stud for us in the future. He earned his team's MVP honors on defense AND offense (as a WR). On his clip you can see he loves to hit, and does it with attitude that reminds me of Colt Anderson. He looks like he's got the "it" factor. Hopefully his success as a WR also translates to being a stud in coverage and earns him a reputation of terrorizing opposing QB's. Our safeties have been weak in coverage over the last few years, I think this young crop of Crow, Williams, and Sandry paired with Semore and Shann are just what's needed to turn that around.
