Selle suffers career ending injury

You never want to see someone get hurt, especially one of your own. Best of luck to you, thanks for literally giving your right arm to Montana Grizzly Football.

Very sad to hear this news.
I SAY THAT AT THE NEXT HOME GAME AGAINST IDAHO THAT ALL OF US GRIZ FANS CHANT SELLE'S NAME WHEN WE SEE HIM ON THE SIDELINE, A GOOD SEND OFF TO A GREAT QB
Idaho is not on the schedule; we haven't played them since '03. Sadly.

Selle certainly earned it last year. The kid often dug holes for himself but managed to get out of them most the time. Sucks to end the career like this hope he heals up soon. He was a scholar and a class act.

But I am glad hes gone after his poor performance on the field all year however. Even without the injury he should have been pulled as the starter for the next game. All our other quarterbacks Roper and JJ especially could play better with this offense than Selle has this year IMO. Kemp should get some action as well when possible.

"On a personal note, I'd like to say that I have come across few athletes as classy as Andrew Selle. The ultimate winner, Selle's leadership on the field is something the Griz won't be able to duplicate no matter who is under center. One of the smartest QBs I've ever seen, Selle wants to be a math teacher and a high school football coach in the future. He will succeed in that venture the exact same way he did with the Montana Grizzlies."
Greg Racah, Billings Gazette

I agree totally. The Griz lost a team captain and a team leader. Thanks to Andrew for being such a great student-athlete and for being an example for all future players Griz or not.

a.g. and d.f.,,as the saying goes be careful what you wish for, you just might get it........your boy, roper has the keys now and i hope he has the ability to do all the things you guys are boasting about...being a qb is so much more than the statistics you two were so good at talking about on e-griz.....coach pflu mentioned a few of those attributes in todays billings gazette that selle had....i believe selle will be missed most, from what he did off the field....respect of you teammates and coach's is earned and does not come with starting....selle took the team to the national championship game....you two are always talking about all the talent on this team, now, it is roper who has that opportunity....i wish him all the luck, because i think he will need it.....coach pflu started selle for a reasons he knew about, those reasons may become more clear as time passes....

I am a JJ guy not a Roper guy FYI but I can live with Roper because he puts TDs on the board not turnovers.

I hope you're right. There is a difference between being a starter and a relief pitcher.

Let's not turn this into a Selle roper debate. Andrew was obviously well respected by his teamates and his coaches. I suspect there are many others outside of Griz football that have benefited from his work. He is what a Student/athlete should be all about.
Good luck to Andrew. You made us proud to call our QB but soon to be alumnus of the University of Montana.

wow, my first reaction to your post was...not even a thanks for the hours upon hours of work Selle put in to be a part of this team? Your compassion knows no ends Alpha. Like Selle or not every kid sacrifices a lot to be a Griz and compete on Saturdays. Andrew was no different and has earned the respect of every Griz fan..no matter if you wanted him as QB or not.

good luck to Andrew in life after football.. :thumb:

Andrew Selle: "I had a little talk with the team here before practice and just reiterated to them how excited that I still am about our team, and how excited I am to be a part of the team and that I'll be out there for them.

"Though I can't play on the field on Saturdays, I'll be right there with them and help out on the sideline."

Griz QB Selle Suffers Career-ending Injury
9/27/2010
University of Montana starting quarterback Andrew Selle suffers career-ending injury

The UM athletic department is joined at the hip with HIPAA. Why can't they just come out and say he has a broken arm, if indeed that is the diagnosis? It will not threaten national security. But it would save Andrew from answering the same old question ad nauseum. Maybe he should send a letter to the Missoulian's op-ed page and be done with it.

Somewhere someone has probably been cuffed for edging past the warning sign at the pharmacy checkout window learning while the guy at the window has a prescription for quad triple strength Viagra. HIPAA, more stupidity from Washington.

Bottom line he is done, does it really matter from what ? we know its his throwing arm !
Sorry to see his career end this way.

Of course you are a JJ fan! When Roper and Pflu fail to win us a National Title you have to have your built in excuse. I can see your post now, If Pflu had JJ throwing the ball we would have won the Title! Alpha, you are so predictable. I can't wait hear your excuse when JJ is QB and the Griz don't win a Title. The only thing the we have going for us is that we got to play Sac State and then follow that up with Northern Colorado. We need a couple of cupcakes to help us along!

I just want the best players on the field unlike you guys.

No excuses will ever be made by me, I unlike 98% of this board admit when I am wrong its not that big of a deal because it happens so rarely.

I unlike you have faith that Pflu and JJ WILL win a NC.

I was just reminding people I wasnt a Roper guy just that hes better than Selle and it shows on the field. I didnt want you guys to get confused and have to come up with a bunch of excuses for when your wrong either.

And you are wrong.

Tokyo is a tool. As for Alpha, he has been vocal about his dislike of how Selle plays, but as far as I know, has never wished injury, or is happy that Selle is done due to injury ever.

I also believe that mtgrizfankb is a tool.

Alpha, I too want the best qualified players on the field but I prefer to let the coaches determine who they are. Alpha, you seem to think you are qualified to say which players are the best and you have a very limited look at them. It sure seems Coach Pflu has reservations about JR.

i just wanted to thanks him for all the hard work he put in. it was fun to watch him play football and to wish him good luck in his furture!  :thumb:

Well, this is a pretty tired line, but it is really a shame that Selle's career had to end with an injury. He's a great quarterback, and sounds like a great guy off the field. I've never met him, but I know he seems like a classy, likeable guy in every press conference/interview I've seen him in, and I wish him the best of luck. I wasn't going to post, since my sentiments have been repeated through three pages, but then I said the hell with it, Andrew Selle deserves a few more posts and a few more pages in this thread to let him know that Griz Nation appreciates everything he's done. Good luck, Andrew!
