The Cuts Just Keep on Coming

Damn.....and I was in the final steps of setting up a Degree-by-Snapchat diploma mill.....$$$$$.....but on a serious note....I believe that on-line learning does have a place in today's world....but only as a tool of the higher learning experience....

You just don't get it. The government could triple the amount of money it spends on education, and nothing would change. You libs think that throwing money at every social situation is the answer. If you did your homework, you would learn that the U.S. currently spends more money per student that almost every other developed nation. Yet, we lag behind terribly in reading skills, math, & science. Money is not the answer. The problems are fixed only by solving the problems of the broken family, and the valuing of education by the parents of kids.

Liberal and conservative tags don't really apply here. Problem is a huge chunk of americans see little value in k-12 education anymore and that bleeds into higher education as well. Money certainly is not the answer Some states way overspend on education and some spent so little as to create real problems. K-12 needs a real overhaul but the real issue is elsewhere and red states face the same issue that blue states face on this one.

Too many kids go to college and we offer far too few programs in vocational and other trainings in the United States today. Simply put, we have too many colleges that offer marginal value and the conservative states have contributed to this issue as much as more liberal states have.

Plenty of blame to go around on this one but I do agree the issue is not just more money

UM Business School does a good job with its MBA program. For people with no academic business background, they must first complete "foundation" classes -- accounting, marketing, stats, etc -- and these are offered on-line. The on-line programs are participatory, class actually meets at a given time, and there is either a skype or a blackboard interactive. Papers and tests are all e-mail. It's a great way to get the foundation classes done esp for students located off campus, with regular jobs, and so this is something that can be done in the evenings.

One of the many laughable “conservative” facts in this farcically comical, ongoing debate of ignorami is the mindless parroting of the “deplorable” state of California’s economy which has been steadily on the comeback since the state finally rid themselves of obstructionist Republicans … especially interesting to compare it to the national joke of Kansas and several other red states.
California Governor Jerry Brown has both hiked taxes and spending so that California now has a budget surplus and better than average job growth. Whereas growth has stopped in conservative lab state Kansas and it is facing a looming budget deficit.
California now has a budget surplus and has increased both jobs and revenues.

Employment is up 3.6 percent in the past 18 months, compared with a national average of 2.8 percent and up around 8% since the Gubernator years.

The fact that the trogs are still repeating their California meme years after it’s no longer true is no surprise. Look at how they still repeat the long dead cliches about the wonders of the market so many years after they’ve proven to be utterly disastrous.

To this day, California still sucks. I've never been to a place with so many senseless laws, rules and regulations.

True. But you may need to Google the Top Ten States that Depend The Most on the Federal Government For Aid. Other then some
"typical poor southern states", the results may surprise you.....

Must be the Trogs.

"California consistently skimps on education. The California Budget and Policy Center (formerly the California Budget Project) reports that in 2012-13, public K-12 education spending in the rest of America (exclusive of California) averaged close to $11,755 per student. In California, the average was just $9,280. More recent estimates show some improvement, with the gap between California and the national average at $975 per pupil in 2014-15."

It isn't "lack of wealth," its too many mouths feeding at the public trough.

Was this "farcically comical?"
UMGriz75: The wealthiest state also raises the most in taxes.
Or accurate?

Now, don't create too many straw men. It's a fire hazard ...

Fats can stay in Cali and enjoy all the nut cases in that state. He/she is full of poo while speaking of greatness. Brown? Nope Fats can stay in a place where only a bull dozer could push those folks feeding in the trough far out to sea!

California's fable budget surplus came from those dumping their dog investments, bringing in an illusory one time inflow to the treasury.

Agreed. On-line course work to enhance knowledge about a subject is valid, but to get an undergraduate degree 100% on-line does not cut it for me.

California envy … an ongoing national neurosis. There are many reasons for temporary population movements … among them, in this case, an economy not yet fully recovered from years of GOP obstruction along with a disastrous drought. Amazingly, the Democrats have been steadily improving the economy in spite of those things. One thing we do know … those people are not moving to the “ultimate laboratory of conservative economics,” Kansas.

No, not Kansas. But, they are moving to Texas in record numbers and removing billions of dollars from California. Jobs...no income tax...and best of all, not California.

What's the matter with Kansas?

Serious? For one, they closed public schools early last year because they ran out of money. Two, the government sold dildos seized from a porn store to raise money.

LOL. I read that propaganda two years ago, and laughed. Please tell me the names of the new businesses located in Missoula, and the jobs they have created? UM/Missoula is just starting to engage in things that MSU/Bozeman have been doing for years. Even the city of Butte is way more progressive than Missoula in this area. Finally, do you think that Royce is capable of taking any initiative to the level of solid success stories?

Ranking Missoula #5 is about as funny as a recent story I read ranking Akron, Ohio as one of the top 5 cities for retirees.

LOL -- Just because you aren't aware of the companies that are being built in Missoula, doesn't mean they don't exist and that news about them is propaganda. Off the top of my head, here are just some of the startup/high-tech companies in Missoula...

Do they teach evolution in the public schools there anymore?

Honestly, I don't know. However, I do know that many people around Kansas City live in MO, and work in KS because of their problems.

Ah yes......"California envy."

I know dozens if not hundreds of people that have moved from California to Montana. Personally, I don't know anyone that has moved from Montana to California. Go figure.

Correction: Last girlfriend was transferred to Northern California (USFS.) She asked when I would come see her. I said when she came back to Montana. True story.
