Unfortunately, due to work, had to listen to the game. Fortunately, the Big Sky is a crap shoot this season. The GRIZ need to get back to winning. With only one true post player, there are way too many players worn out. The likes of Lopez, Gfeller, and Moorehead are all paying the price for having to play too often against bigger opponents. Those guys have to be beat up. I honestly am surprised that Moorehead and Gfeller are playing as many minutes as they are. This season, they have not consistently shot the ball. Their games are not well rounded enough to justify significant minutes, when they are struggling from the perimeter.
I honestly feel the GRIZ should stick with a 7 man rotation of Rorie, Oguine, Pridgett, Lopez, Krslovic, Wright, and Dunn. Only spot minutes/opportunities for Moorehead and Gfeller to earn back playing time, with consistent play (if that is possible). It has to be frustrating for the coaches and players, both those players are very capable of putting up big games from the perimeter.
Wright is also a little bit of a stigma to me. Last season, he proved to be capable of taking games over with his passing and/or shooting, depending on what the team needed. To me, he was an ideal point guard. This season, his role has changed to being more of a scorer. It really has negatively effected his overall game, especially his passing. He does not create for teammates as often . Sometimes, his teammates are completely oblivious to him. We know damn well he is capable of putting up huge assist and scoring numbers. I honestly feel, changing his role back to being more a creator and distributor would be a great way to get things heading back in the right direction for the team. Sorry, but the role he played last season seemed like a much better role for him, than this season.
Also Rorie seems to be more consistent as a scorer than Wright is. Why not let Wright run the show more, and allow Rorie to score more? I hope the GRIZ experiment with this starting against the Cats. If Rorie is off, Oguine and Pridgett each are showing to be very capable scorers as well. I really don't see why Wright's role is so much about scoring this season. To me, it seems to be negatively effecting team chemistry as well.
DeCuire has to figure out something to overcome the lack of size and post depth. The GRIZ sure could use the guys sitting it out this season. In the long run though, it will benefit the program. As for this season, I hope to see Travis experiment with Wright and Rorie, and stick to a 7 man rotation.
